Be undead

The Hushed Casket was founded in 2002 shortly after the launch of the XBOX console. Today the Hushed Casket is a thriving community of gamers, playing together and publishing news and stories that have appeared in major media properties like Newsweek, G4TV, USA Today, and Penny Arcade. Some game developers have even referenced our guides and news to support their gamers. We don't play Halo. We LAN Halo.

Battlefield Bad Company Beta

Just Curious if anyone else is in the Beta because I haven't seen anyone talking about it. I think it should be interesting to see the strategies people develop since now you can enter a building from anywhere, also to see how the level design holds up since you have the ability to take out geometry. Plus it was developed to be a console game so I think the frame rate and controls should be tight. Let me know what you guys think, and if your in it.

Gameplay Video

Frontlines: Fuel of War

After playing the multiplayer demo for a couple days, I ended up making a purchase. I won't give you all the features because you can find that yourself. I'll just give you a rundown of what I think of it so far.

Bottom line: It's outside the box a bit for shooters. Darn fun, and feels a bit like a beta at times. I only play multiplayer.

The UAVs and attack drones are cool. You can dispatch a UAV, fly it around, then jump back to your character and any visible enemy to your UAV will be highlighted where you and your friends can then see them and attack.

The Full version is a lot better than the demo. On the demo, your game is hosted on somebody's 360, lag ensues. On the full version you can join dedicated servers that the developer hosts. My lag virtually disappeared in a 32 player game compared to the multiplayer demo with only 12 players.

The gameplay is kept on a small portion of the battlefield by objectives that you have to take to push the frontline forward. This makes coordinated efforts much more successful. Willdabeast and I proved a pretty strong team in the demo.

It's squad based so you can join up and communicate to a particular squad. I like this fact because I don't have to listen to 16 random people.

There is virtually no aim assistance. Combine this with very light rumble on your controller when firing, and it feels way different. I'm still getting used to it.

One of the coolest maps called "Invasion" one team starts on the other side of a mountain and you have to load up into Blackhawk like helicopters and then fly down into the valley in order to unload and capture objectives and push the frontline forward. The other team defends from the bottom down in the valley.

The game just sounds cool. Distant explosions sound realistic. Airstrikes and the guns of attack jets (that your friends are piloting) sound like I would guess they really sound.

The Battlefield 2142 Command System

bf2142 commandI played some Battlefield 2142 multiplayer some more tonight and here's a little rundown of the command system in place. Long story short: being a commander is FUN! At the beginning of the game you get a chance to apply for the position of commander of your team. The computer will decide whether or not you will be accepted as the current commander based on the military rank of all of the people who applied. If you don't get accepted you have a chance to disgrace your whole family tree, call mutiny and let your team vote you into the position.

Now, as commander you get to run around like everyone else, but the real fun begins when you find a hidden spot to lay down and switch to

Video cards, CPU, motherboard upgrade thoughts

[Updated and Edited] Over the past couple weeks, I've been doing some gaming pc research and decided on purchasing one of the top of the line video cards that will last me a good while. But before I buy it, I've found that those cards will not fit on my current motherboard. I've got a Dell e510/5150, the heat sink on the cpu is blocking the way. Therefore, I plan on building a new gaming pc out of some parts from my Dell, and a new motherboard. Below are some findings from a little bit of research and discussion with rapture and dirtyJ on the best hardware to get into. Nvidia has the top of the line card right now with the 8800gtx, ATI is close on their heels with an upcoming card described
