Modern Warfare 2. Discuss.

• unlock and personalize your killstreak loadout
• AC130 gunning run is one of the killstreak unlocks
• some weapons seem futuristic
• "heat syncing" missile tracks to AC130 but the plane drops flares to counter
• looks like there's a lot of arcade-style scoring
• particle systems and destructible environments look more advanced
Other thoughts?
The looks like it's going to be great. It's going to be CoD4 on steroids and probably one notch down from Sci-Fi, but Infinity Ward has not let me down with this series.
I like the idea of customizable killstreak bonuses. This should make the game more challenging. I hope IW gets the balance right and doesn't encourage cheaters (to unlock more killstreak bonuses) or throw off the balance too bad for new (low TrueSkill) players.

This video makes me wish it was November already.
It looks pretty sweet, and the graphics are really impressive. I like how he was shooting the pots in the greenhouse and shrapnel flew everywhere.
Finally, a heat-seeking missile to take out aerial attacks!
Mother Mary, I want this game already. Seeing as how I'm not a regular Call of Duty 4 player, this looks like a good place to start.

And now he's here to [too hot for the internet] us! So listen up boy, or a pornography featuring your mother will be the second worst thing to happen to you today. - BLU Spy
I'll be making a purchase of this one likely either tonight or this weekend. (360 version of course)
Got mine after work today.
Have the next 3 days off and am going to get through the campaign on hardest level.
Going to have people over on Wed to play so come on over if you want.
I actually canceled my xbox limited edition and just got the game instead. I'm pretty sure the wife would have pwned my face! I did get a $40 game credit with amazon for the preorder and had it shipped release day for basically what it would have cost me at a local store! GG Amazon!!
Multiplayer is so freaking awesome, I'm going to be playing this for a long time I think. I only started to play the first mission of campaign, pretty good as well. Interested in seeing what special-ops is like next!
Just when I started to get into borderlands, this pulls me away!
Sounds great!

I heard synide say that there's a level in MP that is more disturbing than anything Rockstar has put out.
Oh wow. I just started a new level.
It is hard to believe IW put this into a video game. I agree with synide. This is more shocking that anything Rockstar has put out.
Agreed. I even tried to "take the high road" in that level, so to speak, but found that impossible after the first part that is so shocking.
I just beat the game on Veteran.
I think I liked CoD4's SP marginally better. I don't think I'll be letting some non-gamers play any mission in MW2 like I did in CoD4 because I don't think there are any psychopaths in my family.
I went to a midnight event at a GameStop and they had some National Guard peoples perform a tactical demonstration. Behold, one of the most melodramatic take downs you'll ever see:
They had a tournament for six-player Hardcore FFA for Modern Warfare 2, so me and like around 55 other people got to play before the game came out. I won first place and got some swag, it was grandtastic. (Unfortunately, I wish I pre-ordered the Hardened edition much sooner; I could only pre-order the regular edition. ):)
Anywho, I didn't even get to play MW2 since my 360 red-ringed a while ago. However, I slept over at a friend's house late Tuesday night and that's when I first started playing. I beat the game on Veteran difficult on Veteran's Day (see what I did there?). It took me about ten hours; how long did it take for you to beat it, rapture?
I had a fun time with the campaign. Some solid, shocking memorable moments. However, some things with the plot don't make sense, and I felt as though the ending was somewhat anticlimactic. I didn't mind that it set itself up for a sequel; at least it wasn't a cliffhanger, not something powerful enough to compel people to throw their controllers at their televisions like Halo 2's ending did.
Special Ops is fun; considering how much I wanted some kind of co-op feature in the Death from Above mission in COD4, I was excited to play Overwatch (but do yourselves a favor and avoid it if you haven't beaten the campaign yet; there are some spoilers in those missions), I thought this is exactly what MW2 needed: Scenarios to run through. I'm kinda bummed out there isn't an Arcade mode, though, but then I try to imagine the flak Infinity Ward would get for letting you get score multipliers in the airport mission. There's huge potential with DLC.
As for multiplayer -- I'll probably just end up playing exclusively with friends, but maybe I'll participate in local tournaments when I can. I mainly wanted MW2 just to play the campaign and I feel as though the multiplayer isn't worth my time (as elitist as that sounds). :P
It took me about 12 hours to beat it on Vet. I thought CoD4 was tougher.
MP is ok so far. Right now the only thing that is going to have me replaying this game will be my friends that are online playing it. To me, MW2 is just new content for CoD4.
There was about 20 THXers playing MP tonight. We ran into limitations with Xbox LIVE and we had the restart the party a few times. It would have been great to play with everyone in the same game. Having to exclude people from playing in a group blows.
Hopefully there won't be any other games competing for our interests and we'll br able to play this game well into the new year.
Not interested in this game at all. I didn't like COD4 (I even let E steal my beta code...) so I'm not even trying this game. I'm still knee deep in Borderlands and have to buy Dragon Age next.
Stupid Fall and winter when all teh good games come out. Breaks my bank.

WOW. 24 players on LAN would be one heck of a time.
I remember popping the disc in, selecting Campaign, getting the message about the controversial level, and whether or not to allow it to be loaded and played. I thought to myself, "What could so bad that they would have to give you this warning, and the option to skip it entirely?" Then, when said level loaded, I got my answer. I also tried to take the "high road" (read: look on helplessly as the massacre ensues), but like Midnight said, found that to be impossible further into it. I actually tried to shoot Makarov, but of course he's invincible, and as soon as you do that, he'll announce you as a traitor and turn on you (basically the same thing he does at the end of the level).
The campaign was good, but it probably won't get a second run through from me. I thought CoD4 campaign was better. The shock factor didn't really make me like it any more than I would have otherwise.
Graphics for this game seemed noticeably better to me. I enjoy the MP part about as much as CoD4s.
2-24 players on System Link was a misprint. Still only 2-18, whether XBL or LAN...
This game is still a blast, but it is now full of cheaters. It reminds me of the sword glitches and standby's in Halo 2.
Now kids are calling in Air Drops at will and it is happening in about 25% of every game I play. It's very frustrating and there's no way to overcome 2 or 3 enemy aircraft in the air at once for the entire game.
Still, I've got my kit rolling again and have been fortunate to drop down plenty of pwn lately.
