CoD: Modern Warfare 2 special Prestige Edition comes with working Night Vision Goggles
For $150 you will be able to buy the Prestige Edition of Call of Duty: Modern Warefare 2. In addition to the game, it comes with "fully-functional, wearable, adjustable Night Vision Googles with individually numbered and engraved Collector's Stand. Custom-designed and painted goggles allow sight in absolute darkness up to 50 feet in black & white or night vision green."
The Prestige Edition comes with everything in the Hardened Edition $80. That includes:
* Call of Duty - the original classic game that started the successful franchise. For the first time on a console.
* Hardbound art book "Behind the Lines", deigned by artists at Infinity Ward, featuring the art of Modern Warfare 2
* Includes premium, special-edition Steelbook case with custom artwork by Infinity Ward
The game is set for release on Nov 10, 2009 for PC, PS3, and XBOX 360.
What version are you going to get. NVGs?
It might surprise you, but I think I'll go for the plain jane $60 version. The NVGs have got to be absolute crap. The art book would be nice, but realistically I won't get much use out of it. I'll be buying two copies (one for Christina as well) so the standard version makes sense.
Standard version.
Standard. The NVGs would be cool for about 15 mins, but I don't plan on sneaking into enemy territory in the middle of the night, so I don't see me getting much use out of them. Also, $150 is expensive.
Standard as well, though I will say that those glasses look pretty cool, not very likely to work well at that price.
This game is going to get a lot of play time around THX I have a feeling. I'll probably be purchasing it for both the 360 and the PC on Steam
I know as soon as I buy the $150 Prestige Edition, it'll go on sale for like $70. Still, those NVG's look cool. I mean, I don't think I'll use them more than a few times. But, it might make getting to the bathroom a little easier in the middle of the night.
As much as I want to get it on the PC, I'd rather play with our community than alone on the PC with the better quality of play. I'll probably stick to getting it just on the 360.
I'm with you Celery. I forgo almost every PC game just to play with the few people that game a lot on console only. But there really is much more to offer on the PC side of life. Hopefully some of the consolers are starting to see that.
One reason I'm tempted to get in on PC is that I despise matchmaking on the console. I hate that the game makers and Microsoft tell me how I should play with. I'd rather the users determine that. Big government. Sheesh.
Fortunately, the CoD4 matchmaking wasn't too bad and was way more relaxed that Halo 3 matchmaking. H3's matchmaking sent my W/L ratio to near 50%. My W/L was much higher in CoD4. Still, I don't want to outsource my matchmaking to the devs and MS.
And besides that, it's pretty cool to have the maps and mods as soon as they are available.
But more importantly, if you can create a dedicated server just after launch, you can form a solid group of gamers by attrition. The weak will fall out as the masses pass through the server. The competitors will hang around because they'll like the product that's offered. Pretty soon, you'll have 200 like minded gamers working together and that's an amazing thing that makes PC gaming so much fun. The game you want to play with the gamers you want to play is always there waiting for you.
I'll probably get the Hardened addition. For some reason, I like the idea of having every CoD game in my collection. I've been told it's not that much different than CoD 2 and I replayed some of that within the last 3 months.
Just updated the post to include video of the NVGs.
They look pretty dang cool. Going to try to get them.
Quick comment on NVGs: because they kill your depth perception and decrease your feeling of awareness about what's happening immediately beside you, if the moon was 3/4 full or better, I wouldn't wear my NVGs in Iraq. The AN/PVS-14s are a monocle that works pretty well. Because one eye is uncovered you maintain your natural night vision and more depth perception. AN/PVS-7Bs were pretty crappy. Only useful in total blackness. I gave my driver the one set of 14s we had and everyone else got 7Bs. I might have worn them more if I had 14s.
