If for nothing else, it's cool to get home from work, log into the server and chat with you guys. Def reminds me of the days of IRC and Ventrillo before a CAL match.
I was surprised at the ease of use and how closely Mumble resembles Ventrillo.
Pretty excited we've got this up and going because it will be very handy in the times to come.

Yeah I'm pretty impressed with this free voice server. It works surprising well, wish it had an option to change the voice input/output like in Ventrillo, at one point EA was clear and load but during TF2 I could barely hear him.
Now if my copy of HPC would hurry up and get here...
I think it's safe to say that it was more a problem on EA's side. He has a funky mic setup I believe. We also found that his steam voice was interfering with the voicemic server. Once he turned off steam after playing TF2 with you it came back to life.
I agree though, for being open source, it's a pretty nice client. I would like individual control on volume/compression though. I've had multiple times in ventrilo where one single individual has the annoying habit of coughing loudly into the microphone every 3 minutes, nearly bursting my eardrums. A quick right click on the compression and volume on that person and problem solved. I wonder how well the auto compression would handle that in mumble.
Yeah, don't judge Mumble by my setup. Got it fixed now. I had 2 issues going on the other night that was my fault.
1) I was running the native Steam voice client the same time as Mumble. So, that was causing an issue with my mic.
2) I run my XBOX 360 audio through my 5.1 computer speakers. I've got it going into a "Line In" port on my sound drive. I was then splitting the audio from the 360 with input from my mic into the "Line In" port. So, I had two different signals going into Mumble. I've since dedicated my 360 audio into another port on my sound drive. Mic should be working better now that I've got that happening and now that I've turned off the native Steam client.
bonus 3) I pwnd Celery in TF2 so hard yesterday he said he had to get off to make dinner. Busted! Celery just got married. His wife makes the dinners now. So, I know he was getting frustrated at the pwn.
I was grilling steaks for her parents that just showed up. As I recall I was up on you anyways with 5 headshots and a sweet backstab... we can settle this whenever you want.
