* physics engine improvements (Kotaku video)

"Wingman" splits all ten players into five teams of two, where both members of a team play as the same character. "Submission," formerly known as "Meat Flag," is a version of capture the flag in which players attempt to "down" an enemy controlled by the game's AI and move its body to their team's base to earn points.
* bots will be available in multiplayer
* A new co-op game mode was confirmed during Microsoft's E3 2008 press conference; called "Horde," this mode allows up to five players to fight off waves of attacking Locust together. Horde Mode will not feature bot support as in competitive multiplayer, and can be played alone. The Locust attack in waves of multiple enemies which become more difficult as players progress.

* more "fatality" moves added
* In Co-op Players can play on different difficulties in the same game
* some of the Xbox Live achievements can be completed through both play in single player and multiplayer mode

What do you think of these changes and features? What are you expectations for this game?

It's obviously not coming to the PC. However, fifty bucks says Gears of War 2 will eventually be ported (so I can buy it when it comes out). :D

I'm unsure when GoW1 for GfW-LIVE was announced. I wonder if it was announced during the production of the XBOX version.

GoW2 will be such a major title that it will be appealing for some lesser known development house to port it just to get their name out there (ala, Gearbox).

However, I wonder if any of the decision makers are turned off by the way Games for Windows - LIVE is being managed. Perhaps they don't want such a rare jewel displayed in a disheveled case.

Cliffy B said that one reason GoW2 won't come to PC is because of pirating. I think that's a knock on GfW-LIVE. I mean, you can't run unsigned code on XBOX Live without it being detected. Couldn't they wrap some kind of DRM on the game and prevent pirates from playing it on GfW-LIVE just like they do on XBOX Live?

Hrrm. Maybe the problem isn't about the security side of piracy. Maybe it's about sales. Maybe people will pirate GoW2 and play it; with or without the use of GfW-LIVE.

"to get an achievement which requires 500 kills with a weapon or 500 headshots, only the first kill or headshot made by a player in a given multplayer match will count towards the achievement."

I think this is going to be great. Yeah, it's going to be more difficult to get these achievements, but it's going to make gameplay better for everyone. In GoW1, I played many games were someone would be on your team and all they wanted to do was use one weapon and work on their "Torque Bow" or "Sniper Rifle" achievements all game long. It basically put our team at a disadvantage.

I'm stoked about Amazon's "at your door" policy for the day of release games. I wonder if they'll even magically appear BEFORE release day? I mean, these puppies are going to have to be shipped before launch day, so maybe they can get to my door before launch day. Wishful thinking, I know. And it's not that hard to go to Wal-mart to buy the game. But, it's great to know I've got the option to have it shipped to my house. This service will work great for persons who don't live near major game retailers.

This game is sounding better and better every time I hear something new about it.

This looks like it'll be the next game I purchase. I'm pretty excited about playing through that campaign mode, especially with all the large Brumak stuff they're planning.

Microsoft is releasing a Gears of War themed Zune:

I think it looks pretty sweet...much better than the Halo 3 Zune. I would change out the wallpaper eventually, but I think the back is very cool.

It has a 120GB hdd and come preloaded with over 1GB of GoW media. I don't think any of the media exclusive to this device, but maybe that's not the case.

rap, I've heard of that happening with other retailers who have done a similar program in the past. They have to estimate arrival date due to shipping, and they send them all out at once, so if you're close to the distribution center you sometimes get lucky.

That is very tempting for me. I've been wanting a replacement for my broken BIpod for some time now. Plus that thing just looks sick!
I'm curious as to how the Zune an Ipods match up. Any Zune owners out there??

I was wondering the same, I'm in for new MP3 player as well. About to start hitting the gym and running again and I will need a working player. How does the Zune hold up to the Ipod, last one was a nano 4g and it was perfect until the pos stopped working.

I could argue that the Zune is better than the iPod. I don't yet own a Zune player, but am surveying the market and make jump on one soon...possibly a second one for Erin. I have no intention of buying an iPod (except for maybe a postage stamp sized iPod Shuffle) even though Erin has two iPods right now.

Have you guys heard of the Zune Pass? $15 per month allows you to download unlimited music from the Zune marketplace. You can listen to that music for as long as you keep subscribing. Stop subscribing, then you can't play your music. The Zune Pass can be shared with 3 Zunes and 3 PCs.

So, I could get a Zune Pass for Erin and I then we both could use as much music as is offered on the Marketplace for $15 a month (which is 15 songs on iTunes or one album from Walmart).

Also, the DRM is "PlaysForSure" DRM. So, you don't need a Zune player to take advantage of the Zune Pass. I'm wondering what cell phones will support this DRM. If my next cell phone doesn't play Zune marketplace music, then I may be getting a Zune player.

Zune Pass is free for 14 days after you make a Zune account (basically link your XBOX Live gamertag to the Zune marketplace). You can check out their library by downloading the Zune marketplace software which is free. You can also use your MS Points at the Zune marketplace.

I really like the Zune software. I think it is much better than iTunes and Windows Media Player. I've got it running as my default music player on my home computer.

If iTunes had a subscription model, I would probably get an iPod for myself.

If you want something for the gym the $49 1 GB iPod shuffle is the best thing since sliced bread. I used to wear a clunky arm band with my 4G iPod. It needed charging every 2-3 days.

Now I clip my shuffle on my shorts and it's like nothing is there. Battery life in so good I can't really describe it without lots of caps and exclamation marks. I literally charge it about once every 2 weeks--maybe even less. It's difficult to remember how often I charge it because it happens so seldom.

I buy DRM-free music through Amazon and use it in iTunes. The Amazon downloader automatically imports it for me.

I don't consume music in many different ways. I just want a defined playlist of songs to listen to at the gym and while running. When I want to go for different I use Pandora or Slacker, but I seem to like familiar music in the car and while exercising.

I don't know anything about Zunes.

I own a first gen Zune. I like it but its not something that i would take to the gym just because it is basically a brick. The newer 4 and 8gb versions are smaller but also have the touch pad that the second gen Zunes got. I like that you can wirelessly transfer music if you want or now with the upgrade buy music from the device. They also started allowing you to put games on the device which is pretty nice. If you are familiar with XNA you can write your own games for the Zune also. Overall I think it is a pretty good mp3 player i use it everyday in the car where i connect it to my stereo.

I'm definitely pre-ordering the special edition of Gears 2.
