The Hushed Casket was founded in 2002 shortly after the launch of the XBOX console. Today the Hushed Casket is a thriving community of gamers, playing together and publishing news and stories that have appeared in major media properties like Newsweek, G4TV, USA Today, and Penny Arcade. Some game developers have even referenced our guides and news to support their gamers. We don't play Halo. We LAN Halo.
Today is 7/7. In honor of Bungie Day a free Halo 3 map is being released. It's a remake of Chill Out from Halo 1. Also today, the Legendary Map Park has been reduced to 600 points.
Look for an announcement about a Halo 3 XBL meetup taking place one night soon.

I DL'd Cold Storage last
I DL'd Cold Storage last night. I haven't gotten a chance to play it in matchmaking yet, but did a quick walk-through of it. It feels very familiar, and has most (all?) the same weapons/placement as Chill Out does, save, perhaps, for the pistol (didn't really look for it). One weapon I wish Bungie had left out of this map (or the entire H3 multiplayer game, for that matter) is the Needler.
There is a note-able lack of BRs in the map. But that can be easily remedied by a BR start. That aside, I think it makes for a good slayer map.
I played last night. I like
I played last night. I like the map. I think it plays as much like Chill Out as it can in Halo 3. It's got to be one of the best Slayer maps in Halo 3.
I noticed that when you port into Camo room that you always are looking at the Camo when you exit. Unsure if this will matter or not (thinking about portal campers).
I think the jumps are easier to make in Cold Storage than in Chill Out.

I noticed that, as well. You can even make the jump from the window of rocket room to the bridge into camo room. IIRC, you couldn't do that in Chill Out.
...which means you can go
...which means you can go from Rocket to Camo very quickly.
GG's last night. Wish I could have stayed longer.
I played some 7 player
I played some 7 player free-for-all on Cold Storage last night. Some of the slayer games were fun, but the Odd-ball/KOTH/Infection games weren't. And those got loaded alot more than Slayer (actually had a group that vetoed BR Slayer!?). It is faster-paced than Chill Out.
In the VidDoc, they said you
In the VidDoc, they said you can be pretty much anywhere on that map within seconds. Thanks to things like jumping from the window to the needler/invis room, that's pretty much true, making for that faster pace Disavowed mentioned.
I'd be interested in a H3
I'd be interested in a H3 meetup to try out the new map. Anyone interested? It'd have to be this weekend for me, since I'm busy tonight and Thursday night.

I'd definitely be interested
I'd definitely be interested this weekend as well.

There is a bug or "casual
There is a bug or "casual gamer" feature with the teleporters; no matter how you enter them you come out facing the same way.
Overall the map isn't bad. For me though, as an easy comparison, it shows how weak of a multiplayer experience Halo 3 is.
You are right, jay. You can
You are right, jay. You can see how much Halo has changed by playing H1 Chill Out and H3 Cold Storage. Still, I think Cold Storage is just about as good as H3 TS gets (and I think the MLG Foundry maps are good).
I'm playing H3 most every night with jayWHY and a few others...some of them being THX'ers. Been having some GGs in MLG, DLC Slayer and DLC Objective playlists.
It seems that THX is playing a variety of games right now. But, I'm all for getting people online to play H3 regularly.
(I'd actually like to work back through the campaign on Co-op)
It seems pretty good to me.
It seems pretty good to me. I also think Cold Storage is one of Bungie's better original Halo remakes. Lockout's copy wasn't very good in my opinion. but i would definitely be up for a h3 meet this weekend.
also, I tryed to create Midship from H2 with Forge awhile back. If anyone is interested we could try that out once or twice during tomorrow.
