Disc Golf for the Week of June 2-8

I convinced my Dad to play Redstone with me on Thursday after work. I'd also like to hit up Brahan Springs if someone who's more experienced goes with me. I haven't played that course yet, and I'd like to have someone help me locate baskets and give me pointers.

EA expressed an interest in playing tomorrow.

I'll play Wednesday. I've got two friends from work that want to try (they've bought discs), so Redstone would be convenient for us, but I'm open to anywhere.

I'm out today, have to go to a family gathering tonight. We are playing doubles again on Thursday at Brahan.

I'll join you today, Jeff. I wrote down Redstone, but if you've played Brahan Springs before I'd like to go there today. Either way is fine.

Hmm I might go play with some guys at Redstone Bag Tag tourney tomorrow instead of doubles at Brahan. Just got a PM from the guy I threw a few holes with after EA left. BTW I destroyed the last 4 holes at UAH, brides on 15, 16, almost bird on 17 hit the basket on second shot, and par on 18.

I can't believe I am saying this... but I am disappointed that I can't play for a while. :) Hopefully next week or perhaps as early as this weekend, I'll give DG a try again.

Wait, there's a tourney at Redstone tomorrow? Does that mean you can't just go and throw?

I just called it a tourney, when you join the RCCG you get a bag tag # and you can play other people for a lower tag. Just a group of guys going out to play for tags, 3-4 committed so far.

Oh, I see. So it's not like it would interfere with other people who are just going to play?

I'm playing today at Redstone at 4:30.

I'm out on Thurs, Fri, and Sat.

I may play Sunday doubles with RCCG.

Had to cancel my Redstone plans with my dad, so I'm a free agent today. What time are you hitting up Redstone/Brahan Springs, Skyler?

I'm playing at 5:00 regardless of where, but thats the million dollar question: Something popped up and I now gotta work some extra time so I can get off earlier tomorrow to get down to BHam quicker. If the guys are willing to wait at Redstone I'll be going there if someone can get me on base since my RCCG Redstone access won't be submitted till next week. In that case, I will just go play weekly doubles at Brahan Springs.

I just got off the phone with the guy, looks like I will be at BS.

If you are up for doubles, first time players get to play for free. You will be randomly paired with a pro/advance playe and could possibly win some chump change. If you want to show up a little later, I can play another round after doubles which I plan to do anyways since its a short course and I want to work with some of my new mid range discs.

I don't have my cellphone so don't bother texting/calling if anyone wants to join me just show up. I'll check back before I leave around 4:00.

Well hey, if it's free, I can meet you at BS at 5pm. I know where BS is, but where exactly do I park? Could you use the Boy Scout building as a point of reference?

It's right by the horse shoe pit, you park to the right. The disc golf course is in the small patch of trees, can't miss it.

2 weeks in a row, THX takes top spot in doubles.

Matt was paired up with the double partner I had last weekend, shooting one better than we did last week they took the win at -12! I was very impressed with Matt! Not only did he hit 2 clutch 40-45 footer putts for birds, some other decent range putts, think you hit one from about 20-25 as well. (I have no idea how he made the one on #3 but it was a sweet sick hyzer high putt that warped around the tree in front of him and landed in the basket no chains) he parked his drive on 18 right under the basket which gave them the win basically since two other teams shot -11. Basically you just won one of your disc money back! good game thank you very much

I had a lot of good shots tonight, but god I couldn't putt to save my life.. not sure what happen because during warmups I started off with 2 birdies and was shinking every hole in one putt for pars.

I will be playing on Sunday after my soccer game. I think I will go get a round in at Mastin Lake, or RD if someone wants to come and carry me on base, not sure what time probably around 4:00.

The other day at Redstone, I noticed that Matt had his flight paths down on the putts. He wasn't throwing level putts. He was throwing hyzer putts and they were hitting the basket.

So, what THX member is going to come out of the woodworks and win it next week at their first doubles event? Gas money!

We might have to serious get a THX disc made if this keeps up...

Thanks guys! Yesterday was a great day for me and my discs. I almost couldn't believe some of the shots that I made, especially that amazing hyzer on #3! Overall, it was a great, great day.

As far as my putts go, I hyzer because I can't throw straight to save my life. I'm gonna put a lot more time into practicing my putts. Shawn, the guy I was paired up with, gave me some great throwing advice that I have to practice.

Skyler, I'll join you at Mastin Lake on Sunday. I'd get you onto Redstone, but I haven't been to Mastin yet, and I want to check it out.

Yeah he was putting with a good bit of hyzer but who cares when you hit two huge putts like that.

Yeah Shawn helped you out a lot with form, just work on what he was saying on your driving and remember to keep your nose down more to eliminate those high flying drives and you will see double the distance you normally get.

I would join you at UAH doubles but looks like it starts the same time my soccer game, going to hit up Mastin Lake. I will try and drag Evan with me after soccer if he can make it, Ryan likes ML so maybe he has some free time to play normally does on Sunday.

I'm not going to UAH doubles, I'm just hitting up Redstone today with my dad.
