Equipment List
Important Equipment Notes: If you see something is needed and you have it, don't hesitate to sign yourself up for it. Remember, Xbox 1's only. Also remember that the linked Equipment List isn't all-inclusive; check the Confirmed Attendance list to see what else people are bringing. Don't forget a chair. Try to bring your own power strip/networking cables.
Confirmed Attendance (15)
Guest Policy: Guests are allowed as long as they are known by current THXers that Rayne knows and trusts. No druggies, no falling-down drunks (except Rayne, who pays the bills).

Midnight's Old-Yet-Still-Applicable Reminders
- Bring the remote for your TV or know in advance how to change the input without it!
- Don't assume your copy of H1 is in the tray of your Xbox. Check!
- Ensure you have the AC power adapter and necessary cables for your Xbox.
- Bring equipment if you have it! (TVs, Xboxes, networking gear, etc) If you play Halo then you've probably got a TV and Xbox. It's not as much of a hassle as you think to walk it 30 feet to your vehicle ,and it adds exponentially to the fun of the LAN (it's the difference between playing on a quarter screen and a half screen).
I'll be there!
As of now I will be able to bring:
1- H1
1- TV
1- xbox
4- s-controllers
1- 8 port switch
1- 25' ethernet cable(including other various lengths.none exceeding 25')

Edited 4/18/08:

Good call on the equipment list, Hubcrap.
I will be bringing:
1 - 27" CRT
1 - Xbox
2 - S Controllers
1 - Copy of H1
1 - 16 port switch (or an 8 port if 16 isn't needed)
X - several CAT5 cables of varying lengths (5' to 100')
Cheese dip, chips, and beer.
I'm down for some halo for old time sakes.
I can bring the following:
1 - 32' CRT(If needed, thing is a beast to carry)
2 - Xbox(Not sure how many controllers I have, pretty sure I just have a couple bricks and one S)
0 - My copy of halo is floating around somewhere in THX, so maybe it will show up at the lan!
1 - Dew & Beer
1 - Portable Disc Golf Hole & Soccer Balls if we want to bask outside
If I brought a 360 with halo, and a TV...would that be frowned upon?
I no longer have the original beast Xbox.
You would be smited by Zeus himself and I will take a sledge hammer to your 360 and shed a single tear of sympathy for your lose. Plus Halo 1 runs poopy on the 360! poop
I will be there and will be bringing:
1 - Xboxen
2 - Controllers (1 = Brick)
1 - Copy of Halo
1 - 22" Widescreen Monitor
1 - 25ft cable
3 - Folding camp chairs
I know I have 4 controllers total, but I have been unable to find my other two for some reason, so I may have 2 more controllers if I find them.

"Don't blow this, Gene!"
As of right now I can bring:
1 - Exbox
1 - copy of H1
2 - S controllers
1 - Duke controller
1 - powerstrip
1 - 25' ethernet cable
1 - 4 port hub
I would like some confirmation on whether or not guests are allowed as well.
------------------------------------------------
In a land of chipmunks, an angry gnome is king.
Guests are allowed as long as they are known by current THXers that I know and trust, you know who you are. I will take their word for anyone. That being said, no druggies, no falling down drunks (excpet me, I pay the bills).
Besides my house, I will supply:
1 50" HDTV (no HDMI)
1 26" HDTV (2 HDMI, wall mounted)
1 Wireless router
1 360
2 wireless controllers
1 Refrigerator to pack with Mt Dew and Beer
1 Large back yard for disc golf, cage matches and such
1 "How Babies are Made" book. YES FOLKS, the book that the whole Slayer "chicken and dog" conversation evolved from will be at the THX LAN FINALLY!!!
1 iRobot
1 Tivo
1 iPhone
The last three having no relevance to the post, but beloved members of my electronic family none the less. Scooba passed on, please keep him in your thoughts. Donations to the Scooba memorial fund will be accepted.
Carry on...
Note that I didn't include your monitor on the equipment spreadsheet, if only because it's preferable to have a 32" CRT than a cramped 22" computer monitor. That said, feel free to bring it.
No 360s, but if you bring your software and TV, I'm sure there'll be an extra 'box to hook up to it.
'twould be nice to have more people list their equipment...
Can we get a running total of consoles and TVs?
I guess it's my fault for not making it more obvious in the main post, but here it is.
http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pyQwjJSaVxBRC9TuG9Lt5Fg
I have
1-Xboxen
1-30 in crt
2-S's I think..
I think I also have an H1 not sure about that though..
Games don't make people violent. Lag does..
The only CRT I have now is a 20" mini and my 30" CRT HDTV which is staying at home because it weighs over 200 lbs. I gave the 27" to charity because I never used it. I can bring up to two 22" monitors, but I have nary an X2 VGA adapter. Here's what I can bring. I don't know if it will be needed or necessary. Looking for feedback from the Mintzor when equipment is tallied:
(1) 20" CRT TV
(2) 22" LCD monitors
(1) Xbox
(1) copy H1
(3) S Controllers
Goku, do you still have my copy of H3?
Assuming I'll be in town during said LAN, I'll be able to make it assuming that a certain someone *cough*mintz*cough* wants to hook a brother up again with a ride. In that case, I can bring a few things.
(1) Xbox
(1) Halo 1
(?) dukes (i think like 5)
(ONE BILLION MILLION GAJILLION) feet of made up cat5
No brownies this time, but I'll try to bring some seasoning or sauce for burgers and whatnot, or chicken or hot dogs etc, you know, that food thing.
DJ
Updated the Equipment Spreadsheet. DJ, I didn't include any of your equipment because of your uncertainty about attending. Midnight, I also didn't include your 22" monitors because of the lack of adapters. When more people sign up, I doubt they'll be necessary anyway.
I just snagged a 32in Samsung LCD. No word yet if I'll be brave enough to lug it down there.
I may have an old controller S lying around somewhere.
As of right now though, I'll be bringing:
(1)- Me.
BTW: I'm in for this LAN.
Don't know what I'm bringing yet. Mark me down for:
1 x S Controller
1 x 16-port switch
2 x 25' CAT5
Dan, do you still have my copy of Halo 3?
Updated.
I'll pass this on to my brother, and see if he can come.
Edit: He's definitely interested. Mark him down as a guest for me.
Alright, I wrote him down, but didn't bump the number of confirmed attendees. I will when/if he confirms.
I'll be there. Can bring an s controller, beer, and some snacks.

If hollypeedon can get there, your damn skippy I will be.
xbox
maybe 2 controllers
halo 1 and halo 3...j/k
10, 15 ft cat cable
4 port router

I'm trying to get BamaKyle to come to this. We will see.

Updated.
What's the word on Foulbreed, Prey, Xray, Bullet, K9dog, etc.?
Foul, Prey, and Xwray can not commit ATM. I will let you know if/when that changes.
][-][ //-\\ ][_ {()} ][
I might be there.
Hey Rayne,
My roommate and I are wanting to hop aboard. Mintz said that he could vouch for us.
Goodwince and his roommate are good people, Rayne. Is it OK with you if they come?
That is fine Goodwince, just know that we will put Mintz in a cage match with a ferocious, rabid wild animal if anything goes wrong.....wait.....that may incite misconduct just to see that occur.
This is just a couple weeks away guys!
DJ, you gonna be here?
Disavowed, is your brother coming?
Someone inform Bullet and DataDog that there's a LAN going down.
Foulbreed? Rev? Brick? Convict? Myth? Diesel?
Update..
I plan to bring hamburgers, buns, probably some condiments.
However, I'm a poor college student so funding would be helpful. With more funding I might be able to splurge for some chips or other helpful food suggestions.
Rayne, Mintz mentioned that you have a grill?
You can't force people to have fun. Those who want to be there will be there.
No, no.. I'm not trying to force anyone to provide funding. Just trying to gather up funding so we can have more good eats.
Although if you actually meant to force people to have "fun".. then you are wrong you could easily force them to at gun-point.
As of last night, my TV is not reliable to bring with me, the speakers suddenly took a turn for the worst last night while playing Mario Kart, making this horrid low pitch noise and static crackling bass..if I can manage to fix it by then I will bring it, but I doubt I will have time to tinker on it with all the disc golfing and wedding planning eating up all my free time! DG is crack!
I did indeed mean "fun." My point is that people who want to come to LAN will show an interest, and you won't have to repeatedly remind them and drag them to it.
Note on equipment: unless someone ponies up X2 VGA adapters then there's no reason for me to bring my 22" monitors. If someone can provide the adapters to use them then I'll be happy to bring them.
Alright, I'll take your TV off the lists.
As of right now I'll be able to make it, assuming I can find a ride to get up there *cough*mintzrememberthosehamlettes?yesyoudoandyouwantmore*cough* I can grab food and whatnot, within reason, just lemme know what's wanted/needed.
DJ
Alright, cool. I'll add you to the official people count for all the equipment you originally said. The food we need is just regular LAN-Party-Finger-Food.
Unless something unexpected comes up, my brother will be coming. So mark down Critter +1 S-Controller. I think his Xbox crapped out. In fact I'm sure of it. He gave his 10GB HDD to Midnight.
Thanks, Disavowed. I updated the list.
I still want to hear from the following people: Bullet, Rev (Eric, could you ask them at work?), DataDog, Foulbreed, Brick, Convict, Myth, Diesel, and Phoenix. If you can get in touch with any of these people, please do.
I can spread the word to Convict, Myth, and Ciguatera. Although Convict seems to have been sentenced to a life of imprisonment w/ the wife and kids, w/out the possibility of parole. Only for poker is he granted visitation rights. And I don't know how likely Cig's attendance will be, either. Myth could be the only Stolaas to make it...
I'm sure Myth will be there.
------------------------
"Don't blow this, Gene!"
Phoenix will be there.
Cool, what's Phoenix bringing?
Sorry guys, scratch my name from the list. My travel plans changed and I won't be in town for the LAN :\.
DJ
The jury might be out on me as well. I forgot I have a friends wedding that day. I have yet to decide if I will be skipping it or not.
Looks like I probably won't be able to make this as well. I have some sort of charity fundraiser thing I have to attend for some reason or another. Maybe things will change, but I doubt it.
By the way, rapcat or goku or anybody else for that matter who is interested, there will be a Shadowun LAN in Athens, GA on June 20th. Confirmed attendance of 14 right now with several maybe's. Hit me up if anyone is interested and wants more details.

Goku: Dress up, stand around for a couple hours, and eat cake vs. throw on a t-shirt and shorts, play Halo 1 in comfy chairs, and drink Dew/eat burgers doesn't sound like a contest to me.
I do wish I could go, but this whole fiance/getting married thing kinda takes precedence over a LAN :).

count me in for the lan. got xbox, halo, chairs, cat cables.
This is just my opinion on the matter and should be taken as such
Wear comfy slacks and a comfy shirt, maybe an hour of standing around plus 4 days of happy happy sex with an awesome woman vs all the other stuff you said...yup, no contest :).

That man is you, crossing it. That said, enjoy yourself!
Cool stuff. Updated.
You better enjoy those 4 days. Once the honey moon is over, don't count on scrumping more than once or twice a month! ;)
Anyone think jayWHY would want to make this?
He knows about this LAN. I think if he comes to anything it will be the THX B-day LAN this fall.
Delaware's a long way to travel for our usual summer LAN.
Well, how "usual" are our LANs anymore? :(
Well, this is it. The LAN is on Saturday! It's gonna be a lot of fun!
I won't be there. If the wedding was earlier or later than 4 PM EST I'd consider coming down for a while, but...yeah, I have to go.
Forgot to add GoodwinCE's roomate to the list. Updated.

$DNevermind... what? You can't come?
Goku and Gnome aren't attending any more.
I'm talking to Bullet, Daremo, Tuff E Nuff, and Datadog.
Shame, that. I updated all the counts. We're currently sitting on 16 people, and I'm assuming the equipment will be enough.
I'll have to leave early. Probably around 4pm. I'm guessing that the same reason I have to leave might be the same reason for CynEater's absence. I am pretty sure we are both attending a Bible Study at 5pm, but I could be wrong.
------------------------
"Don't blow this, Gene!"
Could Cyneater also come and leave around 4pm?
He probably has to work Sat... but again, I am guessing. :)
------------------------
"Don't blow this, Gene!"
Doesn't look good for the lan anymore for me, I'm going up to BHam to move my fiance out of her apartment on Friday. Hopefully I will be done and can make it but we shall see.
It's almost like I didn't even tell anyone two months ago to set aside the date.
Hopefully everything'll go smoothly and you can come, Skyler. Should I leave you + your equipment on the list, or no?
I may end up not going to the Bible Study. To tell you the truth, it is a new thing for my Saturday evenings... but circumstances compel me to be there this Saturday... however, we will see.
------------------------
"Don't blow this, Gene!"
LANs don't happen as much as Bible studies... You had this commitment already...
Yo anyone want me to bring the halo comic book (Interview)
---------------------------------------------
THE POWER OF THE X
Yes. Bring it.
Is Ryan coming to this LAN?
I had a chance to talk to Evan recently ("Frankie"), and he seemed interested in coming to this LAN. He said he'd get in touch with Ryan or Jeff or somebody, and I was wondering if either of you could take a proactive step and ask him what his plans are?
Is Brick gonna be able to make it?
It's complicated...
------------------------
"Don't blow this, Gene!"
Does it involve girls? Don't be whipped, Andy. Don't be that guy. Nobody likes that guy. Be a man; come hang out with the guys.
mmk if u cant come ill give it to james to take.
----------------------------------------------
THE POWER OF THE X
I wish it did, my friend... I wish it did. But don't worry, I will NEVER be whipped or that guy, this is why I may be single for a long time... not to mention the fact that I am apparently sexist. :)
------------------------
"Don't blow this, Gene!"
Well that's good. Then let's just get back to the principle of the thing: You made this commitment a long time ago, so it's only fair to everyone else that signed up that you bring yourself and your equipment. I'm just sayin'. Either way, at least you'll be there until 4.
Actually, I will be there until 5:30... even better.
However, in a way, I also made a commitment to attend this Bible Study, before the LAN was planned. That is why it is complicated. Jonathan kinda did the same thing. At the time, I did not know that the Bible Study would be on this Saturday though.
------------------------
"Don't blow this, Gene!"
Nothing is "complicated" about saying you're going to be somewhere and then being there, whether it's a Bible study or a LAN. It looks like you still don't know where you're going. How about this, wherever the hell you're going on Saturday night, just go there and stop talking about it. Your wishy washy decision-making process gives me hives. I do not understand this aversion to committing to having yourself somewhere at sometime (once again, whether it's a Bible Study a LAN). The inability to do this contradicts every part of my being. When exactly do you decide? Do you get into the car and start driving and see which way has less traffic? What prompts you to finally make a decision? Do you wait until time is so short that you are forced? I want to understand this, because right now I don't. I'm not pissed off; I'm confused. I honestly do not get this line of thinking.
I don't know if planning these LANs is worth it anymore, and I'm not even the one who planned this one. So much has changed in the past 5 years that THX may not be able to survive in the way we once did. Perhaps it's time to let it go.
We still have a decent amount of people coming. I'm still gonna have fun, even if three guys and a bum named Rob are the only people there (I doubt Rayne would allow a foul-smelling Rob to sit on her nice, clean couches, but that's besides the point). Andy's attendance, while preferred, will not make or break the LAN for me.
I don't mind this amount of planning. With the diverged lives THXers have today, it's a miracle in itself that it can be arranged as much/well as it is, and we have this website to thank for it. LAN parties are still one of our staples, and I see no good reason why they should stop.
I didn't realize that I had not committed myself to this...
Okay, evidently the fact that I have registered for this LAN, and furthermore stated what I am bringing is not enough, so listen up...
I AM COMING TO THE LAN!!! I WILL BE THERE EARLY!!! I WILL LEAVE AT 5:30 BUT WILL COME BACK!!! I WILL COME BACK AT 9PM!!! I WILL LEAVE MY EQUIPMENT WHILE I AM GONE!!! IS THAT CLEAR?!?!?! AM I COMMITTED NOW?
I forgot I was talking to engineers, I thought Mintz and I were having a playful conversation... evidently not. There is no aversion to commitment or vacillation here! I have made my decision and am sticking to it.
But hey, you know, there is that possibility that I may get a call between now and Saturday... something better might come up the pike... so I will notify you if things change. :) JUST KIDDING!!!
------------------------
"Don't blow this, Gene!"
Thanks for clearing that up, Slayer!
Not trying to force you into going to either event. I'm trying to understand how and when you decide what events you attend.
This too has also annoyed me. As you can see I have made no comments in this topic because i have been unsure about my attendance for a really long time. I made one post yesterday but then changed it because I received conflicting details from my parents. But I digress. There have been quite a few times when a certain someone has told me he would be somewhere and he dips out at the last minute for reasons that would seem pitiful to the untrained eye. I do not try to defend his actions, i just seek to explain them in a way that he does not seem capable of doing. Bottom line: when in a conflicting situation he picks the way that involves his current want. It has nothing to with what set plans he has made. If he wakes up thinking "I want to play halo" then he will be at the lan, but if he has a dream about hell the night before he will surely pick The bible study. Yet he might even choose to do neither and go hang out with another certain someone at his church.
I just want to say this. The Bible study was planned to move to Huntsville about six months ago, so yes it beat the lan's plans by about 4 months but no specific date was set for the bible study until after the lan was already in full swing.
I now know that I have to work Saturday but I WILL be there around 530-600. I apologize if my explanation hurt anyone but it's a trend that does urk me to no end.
I also wouldn’t be surprised if our other friend left the lan to hang out with a couple underage girls and to dance with senior citizens.
--
J
$DFirst of all, Jonathan, you are a brown noser and full of BS! Furthermore, you have no room to talk because if I recall, you dipped out on us to go hang out at Jeff's last Saturday when we were going to watch a movie at Will's. Now Will did somehing similar, but at least he told me. You told me you would do it and then next thing I know, Jeff calls me and says your are coming over.
My attendance at the LAN was never called into question by myself. I did not even hint that I might not attend. So I don't really know what the Hell is the problem here. If I am there, what difference does it make if I leave a little early? Especially if I am coming back. So there is no issue here other than some people be anal.
Secondly, I based my decision in this, and every other case on logical reasons which I do not have to share with y'all. It is a long story, and makes perfect sense. But I do not intend to explain myself here.
PLUS, THERE IS NOTHING TO EXPLAIN! I AM COMING, I WAS ALWAYS COMING, SO PISS OFF!
------------------------
"Don't blow this, Gene!"
If neither Mintz nor I had ever said anything, when would you have decided to either
a) leave the LAN and go to Bible study
b) stay at the LAN
c) something else
Would it have been early this week? The day before the LAN? The day of the LAN? Right before you had to leave?
I am trying to understand human decision-making to make myself a better leader. I don't have a grasp on this, so I'm seeking clarity. Please don't be offended. I'm trying to understand your ways. I think you're a fine modern gentleman.
Holy schnike's, this thread is getting out of hand. I'll say what I have to say and leave the rest of you to it. I cannot make the LAN. This is NOT due to a lack of commitment, but rather the opposite. I am committed to my job, and my boss asked me to work a swing shift that day. I'll be working from 3pm to 11pm. Normally I could say no, I had plans, but we're in the middle of a web interface roll-out for our clinical systems, and have hardware that needs to be deployed. Therefore, no LAN for me, unfortunately.
For those going, have fun.
Peace.
I live here, so I am pretty sure I cannot back out. What I can say is that they are building a house in the once empty lot next to my house. I pitched a fit to get a construction fence and I make sure they are aware when they block my driveway in a manner that inconveniences me. That said, it will probably be best if I open the back gate up and let people park in the back yard. The construction people have been known to work weekends. That is, if anyone shows up. If not, at least my house is clean.
I really like the unintentional headline of my previous post LOL
@ Rayne lol
Well geeze.. I'll be there. Will be leaving early. I intend on coming back. There are too many variables to set the latter into stone. Can't wait!!
][-][ //-\\ ][_ {()} ][
1) Can someone go over the equipment list and make sure that we aren't going to have too many XBOX's or TV's. No need in people dragging that stuff to the LAN if it's not going to be used. Also, is there any critical equipment missing? It would suck to get other there and not have enough CAT5 or software. I see that my 16-port switch is pretty critical since the Mann's aren't coming. (I can't look at the Google Doc.)
2) Can someone make sure we've got good gametypes setup? Who's got the modded XBOX's with 100 and 250-kill TS gametypes?
3a) You guys might want to consider bringing a table so that you'll have a gaming surface.
3b) ...and a chair for you and your guests. Else you'll be sitting on a cooler.
4) I don't know if I can attend the LAN.
5) Ok. I'm going to attend the LAN. I'll be there.
6) Food. What's everyone doing for food? Unless someone steps up and says "I'm going to be manning the grill and making you some tasty hamburgers and they'll be ready at noon", then I'm going to buy some fast food on my way to the LAN. I'd rather use game than have to worry about food. So, I'm totally down for every-nub-for-himself.
My two cents, Let's do Pizza for food.
I don't know if it helps, but I have an extra wireless B router that has like 4 ports on it. I'll bring it just in case.
------------------------
"Don't blow this, Gene!"
@ Midnight, Can you bring one of your Monitors for me? i'm going to buy some HD cables and would prefer not to have to lug around the CRT. I know this is last minute but atleast i'm not decided wether or not to come...
Games don't make people violent. Lag does..
Does this go for your brother as well, or is he still coming?
Just remember system link in Halo 1 only support four boxes.
As it currently stands:
1) We have 6 TVs, 5 Xboxes, and 7 copies of Halo. I'd say they're all necessary. It'd be nice to have another Xbox... Your switch will be crucial. Please bring it. We need netwerks. And the Google Doc doesn't work? The settings should allow anybody to look at it.
2) I think Celery had the modded box, and he's helping his fiancè move and probably won't make it to the LAN.
3) Tables and chairs are nice.
4) teh noez
5) phew
6) GoodwinCE is bringing 32 burger patties and fully intends to make use of Rayne's grill. I'd assume he'll fire it up in the early evening, but I don't think there's a problem with him making them for lunch, and we all order pizza for dinner. Bring cash for pizza. It shant be every-nub-for-himself.
Does what go for my brother?? He has his LCD TV and Xbox still. Yes he's still coming but he's like Andy is leaving then coming back. I have no idea what time he is leaving and then coming back.
Games don't make people violent. Lag does..
Oh.. we have Stephen/Myths Xbox at our house. I'll ask and make sure but we've had it for a couple months so it shouldn't be a problem if I bring it.
Games don't make people violent. Lag does..

I figured that might be a problem. I bet you can't see the sweet Google Calendar app I put in the DG thread either, huh?
Shyzza, I can bring a monitor for you.
Sweetzorz thanks!
Games don't make people violent. Lag does..
GGs.
Shyzza was in a league of his own. He and Phoenix played me and Midnight. In TS50, they won 50-33. Shyzza had 43 of their 50 kills. He nearly dominated like that all night long.
Wii Fit looked fun.
Thanks for hosting Rayne. Maybe you'll play next year?
When's the next LAN? We've got the THX 6th bday coming up in August.
I had a good time. I'm glad all you guys (and girls) made it and enjoyed yourselves.
GG everyone, I had alot of fun. I honestly don't know what was going on, that's the best i've done since before halo 2 came out, but I'm glad it busted out.
That was sweet! I had a really fun time getting owned. It was fun playing pool too. That lan went all lot faster than the last one. We should do one every month.
