Available: Halo 3 Legendary Map Pack. Free theme and gamerpic
It's out. The new downable content for Halo 3 costs 800 MS points and comes with 3 new maps, a legendary theme, and gamerpic.
The Legendary Map Pack blends old and new. Ghost Town’s asymmetrical mix of confined spaces and long lines of fire makes for frenetic games. Avalanche re-imagines the original Halo classic, Sidewinder, with new features, tweaked vehicles and massive outdoor spaces. Significant changes bring big improvements to the map, yet its contours and cliffs should provide a welcome sense of familiarity. Blackout, on the other hand, is the purest remake to date – all time favorite Lockout gets a graphical overhaul, but retains its challenging mix of ramps, platforms, tunnels and hallways. There are no refunds for this item.

Can't wait to play, once my 360 gets fixed. Probably will play at a friends house, though.
according to this if you pre-order Ninja Gaiden II at circuit city you get an email from CC with a free redemption code for the map pack

So far I am enjoying the new Legendary maps.
Blackout has a very familiar layout, but feels "bigger". Most of the technical jumps are still there. Some are clearly missing, but most players won't miss them. The jumps are much easier now, which may be good for some players, but I feel it takes away from the risk/reward aspect. I wish Bungie hadn't done that.
The first time I played Ghost Town, I hated it. Now it has sort of grown on me, and I prefer it to Blackout. It has a good variety of elevated spots mixed with the ground-level terrain to make it a more complex map then some of it's symmetrical counterparts, while the lack of symmetry forces you to either learn the map and play with it, or it will play against you if your opponents know it better.
Avalanche is my favorite, by far. Despite it's size and the numerous vehicles, it's still balanced for those who stay on foot with all the man-cannons, ledges, and hallways. There are so many things to do, I haven't even used the Hornet on it yet. And that was what initially excited me most about it.
The new maps are definitely Legendary when compared to the previous map pack. I felt a little shorted by the Heroic Map Pack, but this latest pack was worth my $10.
BTW, the Laser Tag gametype on this past weekends double EXP playlist called "Legendary Brawl" (12 player FFA) was loads of fun!
Hubcap, D15 and I played the new maps yesterday.
I was surprised at how well the Leg maps played. Avalanche did not seem big at all. The man cannons and teleporters could put you in the fight very fast. Ghost Town is a blend between Sanctuary and Turf. I liked it and it might be my favorite DLC map. GT did not seem large. I think it's a great Slayer map. Blackout was cool. I like the improvements they map to the map geometry. I played this map the least.
I have played on the Heroic maps yet.
