Be undead

The Hushed Casket was founded in 2002 shortly after the launch of the XBOX console. Today the Hushed Casket is a thriving community of gamers, playing together and publishing news and stories that have appeared in major media properties like Newsweek, G4TV, USA Today, and Penny Arcade. Some game developers have even referenced our guides and news to support their gamers. We don't play Halo. We LAN Halo.

My web browsing: Flock + Netvibes

My homepage in Flock

This is my homepage that I've been using for a few months now. Netvibes allows me to see the things on the internet that matter most to me on one page. It's my homepage and portal to receiving information. I have dumped iGoogle as my startup page.

Flock is my web browser. It's based on Firefox and I'm running several Firefox extensions (Gmail notify, FoxForecast, Adblock, del.icio.us, etc.).

Flock is Firefox (it's built from Firefox) with social networking features. Flock syncs with Facebook, Twitter, Gmail, and Flickr. I can update those respective accounts from within Flock. I can also monitor those accounts and friends' updates from a sidebar in Flock without having to go to facebook.com or some other site.

I don't need to name my bookmarks at the top of the browser because I recognize the icons and know where they lead me. This allows me to put a couple dozen shortcuts in a "bar" on the screen. You can do this in most any browser.

Netvibes allows me to aggregate social networking data, RSS feeds, email accounts, and even full webpages in one spot.

I think Netvibes and Flock make the web more accessible and easier to use for those who use social networking websites. I think the typical THX reader could take advantage of features found in Flock. Maybe both Flock and Netvibes will save you time. Happy computing.

Thanks for turning me on to

Thanks for turning me on to Flock...I love it, mostly. I do NOT like the way favoriting websites is done, the interface on that has a bit to learn from Safari. I use Twitter way more now, though, because of Flock.

I don't like using built-in

I don't like using built-in favoriting systems on ANY browser. All of my bookrmarks are stored online so that they are accessible from any browser and always in sync with me and my browsing software regardless of what device or computer I am using.

I'm using del.icio.us (my links are at del.icio.us/e03179) to bookmark and tag all my links. Del.icio.us is integrated with Flock but I really don't use it that way. I just go to my del.icio.us account and search for a tag or keyword if I want to find an old link.

This is what I did with Firefox and IE so I'm not really affected by how Flock manages Favorites. The Favorites were the first think I didn't like about Flock...or Firefox...or Internet Explorer. At least there is some integration happing, though.

I like being about to right-click a link or to hit the "tag" button to easily bookmark a site in del.icio.us.
