We want your HALO 3 screenshots here. Add yours.
The Hushed Casket was founded in 2002 shortly after the launch of the XBOX console. Today the Hushed Casket is a thriving community of gamers, playing together and publishing news and stories that have appeared in major media properties like Newsweek, G4TV, USA Today, and Penny Arcade. Some game developers have even referenced our guides and news to support their gamers. We don't play Halo. We LAN Halo.

We've coded up the shoutbox to automatically post to twitter if you want to notify everyone that you're getting on XBOX Live! Just precede your shout in the shoutbox with "@live" and it'll post to the Hushed Casket Twitter.
Example of a shout:
"@live Hey we're getting on COD4 right now!"
If you're connected to twitter and following the Hushed Casket as a friend with text messages turned on, then you'll receive a text message on your phone every time someone posts in the shoutbox that they are getting online! Schweetness.

Get notified of game nights and important THX announcements via the hushedcasket Twitter account. You can get the messages on your cell phone, through email, Facebook, and many other ways. Here's how it goes down.
Awesome idea. Text messages
Awesome idea. Text messages still cost me $ per message, so I don't have that feature enabled, but it's great for those who do.
Even without text messaging
Even without text messaging it's still a good way to get the message out to everyone that your getting online.
I don't have my phone with me during a lot of the day, but I still check my twitter feed.

Twitter is one of the most
Twitter is one of the most popular personal publishing platforms on the web. With their API, you can do some amazing stuff. Like Mike said, you can make it work for you even if you don't want to send/receive SMS messages. The tools are out there. There's a listing of things you can do with Twitter here: http://hushedcasket.com/node/2741.
@Oculus: Are you connecting to the Shoutbox to Twitter via PHP (I bet you are) or via an XML feed?
Good work.

T-Mobile. I found a website called getsatisfaction.com that basically said T-mobile doesn't want to support Twitter.

Maybe you could have Twitter email your ###@tmomail.net instead of SMS'n your cellphone?
Maybe you could connect via WAP through AOL IM to post MSGS to Twitter?
Just wondering about the technical limitations.
Basically, if you can connect to the web anyway through your cell, there's probably a way to do it - although it might not be a straight Twitter to TMobile connection.
Direct through php +
Direct through php + curl

"T-Mobile does not have a policy against Twitter—in fact, they like us. This was a technical bug, now resolved. However, something that emerged from this confusion was very impressive. The immediate and sustained support from the Twitter community was very much appreciated. We'll keep you updated as we learn more this week."

I've noticed that Trigger's live announcement isn't on the twitter.com/hushedcasket account.

@Mintz: I was just had the same thought after looking at that part of the website for a few minutes. I bet that's the case.
(Geddit? I said "case".)
@Oculus: What if we turned
@Oculus: What if we turned the Shoutbox into an all-out Twitter mashup that won't affect those THX'ers that don't have a Twitter account?
Can you think of ways we can expand the Shoutbox?
Also, I've noticed that as the Shoutbox gets more popular, it's harder to follow the conversation at the Shouts roll off the screen. This seems self-defeating as the point of the Shoutbox is to spawn conversation. Any way to archive all shouts? Should we implement a scrollbar to show even more posts?
Could add a "Twitter account" form field to all user profiles. Then, in the Shoutbox link all usernames to the Twitter page for each user if they've populated their Twitter account field?
Just doing some thinking...
Oh, how about a little
Oh, how about a little checkbox next to the "Shout" button that sends the shout to Twitter? If unchecked, it'll just post regularly. The checkbox could just insert the "@live" string to the beginning of your message.
A scrollbar would be nice, because I've missed bits of conversation before.
Wondering if we should also
Wondering if we should also add a level of security to the box so that:
1) spammers don't j up and spam the Shoutbox and our Twitter accounts (and some cell phones)
2) prevent people from sending X messages in Y minutes
