CoD4 back to #2. You do know that Infinity Ward? Right?

So, I bust open my email to see that Charlie Oscar Delta has mailed me again. (Gah, they sure do send some email. I've even opted out several times.) What does Infinity Ward have to say about Call of Duty 4?
"CoD4:MW soars to the number one spot! We were overjoyed with the recent news that COD4:MW surpassed Halo 3 as the top played game on Xbox LIVE."
They even link to last week's post on Major Nelson's blog reporting that Halo 3 had been dethroned.
I hate to break it to them. But Halo 3 has now returned to the #1 spot as XBOX Live's most played title. Major Nelson reported so today.
So, Call of Duty 4 was the most played game for one week. Will it ever return to #1? I think it will as soon as downloadable content comes our way --- or a patch to fix networking issues. Until then, I think Halo 3 will be king.
Now that's a short-lived victory. I'm sure Halo 3 would have continued to remain for many more months if COD4 didn't temporarily threw it off its throne.

$DI got the email too. What kind of PR dept sits on that news for a week when they know they may not be on top again the following week? Why so long to release a simple promotional email?

They need better current information. I think CoD4 and H3 are going to trade the #1 spot back and forth for a long time. They are both great games.
It just so happened that I have also been playing Halo 3 since the news of CoD4 being #1 on LIVE. Apologies IW.
