I Took The Definitive Step to Avoid XBL Idiots

I restricted in-game voice, and voice/text messages to friends only. I know I'm going to miss out on a few genuinely cool people, such as the ones I've met randomly and kept on my friends list for years, but I think my everyday experience is going to be better without the screaming/singing/trash talk/complaining.

If you are interested in doing this, follow the below instructions:

Open the left blade with a single press of the guide button after signing in
Select your gamertag
Edit profile
Privacy Settings
Voice and Text
The rest is intuitive

I'm quoting that from memory, so something may be slightly off, but it should get you there if you're interested.

I might do it, but like you said, I would be missing out on meeting cool people. Which is better? Meeting new friends, or not having to listen to new enemies?

I've been on XBL for 5 years. I've got about 5 people on my friends list that I've met randomly. I don't game with any of the often, just occasionally. At less than one friend per year, and not even a close friend at that, I think it's worth it to silence the nonsense I hear every single time I turn on the console.
