The Hushed Casket was founded in 2002 shortly after the launch of the XBOX console. Today the Hushed Casket is a thriving community of gamers, playing together and publishing news and stories that have appeared in major media properties like Newsweek, G4TV, USA Today, and Penny Arcade. Some game developers have even referenced our guides and news to support their gamers. We don't play Halo. We LAN Halo.

Get notified of game nights and important THX announcements via the hushedcasket Twitter account. You can get the messages on your cell phone, through email, Facebook, and many other ways. Here's how it goes down.
Young people view the world
Young people view the world as a database. They use electronic devices to run queries on the world and get the information they need.
However, I think social networking is turning into publicity networking.

I really am disliking it
I really am disliking it more and more as I think about it...I'm probably deleting my myspace and facebook pretty soon. It's just another way for the man to keep tabs on you.

Oh well. i'll let the man keep tabs on me. I like them, becasue I can small talk with people I haven't seen in a while, and it also makes it easy to locate people from say...elementary school or something who you want to say hi to.
I have gotten rid of my
I have gotten rid of my myspace, for all intensive purposes. I still have my facebook, and have switched my focus, such as it is, to it. However, I seriously doubt I will keep either of them much longer. I think they are a waste of time, and they tend to encourage gossip and insincerity among "friends" that would otherwise probably not be as prominent, I don't think. Thats me anyway.

Major college campuses are reporting that students send more email through Facebook than the university email systems.
I'm able to stay networked with friends that I wouldn't communicate in any other way. That's why I use Facebook (and to some extent, MySpace). I left behind every friend I had when I graduated high school. Now I'm able to connect with some of them.
It's the The Patriot Act gives the man power to keep tabs on you...not Facebook. This is what happens when a couple of Saudi Arabians want to kill some people that happen to be in the USA.
I am encouraging people to leave MySpace and join Facebook as it is much safer and easier to use.

The utility of Facebook
The utility of Facebook aside, am I the only one who remembers 1999/2000? $15B is a lot of cash. What would you have if you liquidated Facebook today? I'm guessing a few thousand $ in office supplies, networking equipment, and software that would fit on a single DVD. I remember one time when Yahoo was over $200/share that I remarked "Man, and it could all fit on a 3.5" floppy."
You can argue that there is huge advertising potential there, and you'd be right, but enough long-term advertising potential to make it worth $15B? I'm not so sure.
Google is trading at over
Google is trading at over $600 per share and they basically have no tangible product. It's all electrons and magnets. Who would think a computer algorithm would be worth so much money?
