Be undead

The Hushed Casket was founded in 2002 shortly after the launch of the XBOX console. Today the Hushed Casket is a thriving community of gamers, playing together and publishing news and stories that have appeared in major media properties like Newsweek, G4TV, USA Today, and Penny Arcade. Some game developers have even referenced our guides and news to support their gamers. We don't play Halo. We LAN Halo.

Gears of War PC gone gold! Release date is November 6.

Submitted by Master Kim on Wed, 10/24/2007 - 7:18pm.

Gears of War PC has officially gone gold and will be released November 6.

Thankfully, this probably won't end up being one of the most disappointing, lametastic ports ever (Halo 2 Vista, ugh).

If only I had the PC power to run it!

Got this pre-ordered.

Got this pre-ordered. Looking forward to the extra campaign chapters, the graphics, and the points.

I expect the controls to be jacked up.

I also expect Games for Windows - Live to deter from the experience I should be having.

NUTS. Didn't you guys

NUTS.

Didn't you guys already play this game? Or am I just imagining those nights we played GoW non-stop. So you'll buy a game you already have, a game you've already outplayed, and a game that will most likely give you hours of frustration with GFW. But are unsure, and timid about buying 4 of the best games ever; including the best reviewed game ever, all in one box together for the same price?

Haha, good point. If it makes you feel better I'm not buying either (because I don't have the computing power to run GoW), although I do plan to buy Orange Box sometime next year either on sale, used, or similar.

Beware of used PC games. I bought a "previously owned" copy of Bioshock PC. Come to find out, 2K Games uses an "anti-piracy" method called SecuROM. This requires you to register online with a license # attached to the game. My game will not load, not even from the original disc, since my online registration failed. And it's not as though I'm completely without a registration #. It is contained in the box. The online database that it talks to somehow thinks it's already registered. Which leads me to believe that someone who previously owned it is playing with an illegitimate DVD paired with a legitimate registration. While I am left with a legitimate copy of the game, but a duplicate registration #. 2K Games didn't help, SecuROM (apparently a separate entity) didn't help. A little online research would have told me that even people who bought brand-new copies of Bioshock PC were having SecuROM issues. But, it was an impulse buy. I saw it for $10. I jumped on it. My mistake.

That's good info, Thanks

That's good info, Thanks for the heads up. However, Orange Box will be a console purchase for me. I won't be purchasing any graphics intensive PC games for the foreseeable future.

I'm jealous; I don't have a rig like yours. :(

At the same time, I think Gears of Wars is going to improve the image of Games for Windows - Live. At least Gears of War isn't a three-year-old game on an older generation console (cough, Halo 2 Vista, cough), and at least the port isn't being outsourced to some obscure third-party developer.

Oh, but the Source engine doesn't take that much to run.

Seriously, if you have the choice between Gears of War and The Orange Box, get the latter.

I bought it. Best purchase of my life. and technically its 5 of them. HL2, Ep 1, Ep 2, Portals, TF2. and it rocks my socks off.
