I'm surprised that none of you noticed that the blue guy's helmet is not a helmet that is normally unlockable. Trust me, I have all 1000 gs for Halo 3 and I do not have to armor. I even have the Katana body piece, but still, that helmet has never presented itself. Maybe the topic shouldn't be the flaming effect so much as the fact that their armor is armor that you can't unlock.

The white helmet is definitely unlockable. I think the blue one is as well.

The point is that there could be more things added or unlocked to the game at a later date. I'm guessing all Bungie employees got the Flames via DLC.

Also, the flaming helmet is a settable player trait in custom game options.

I was unable to find this option this morning when looking through the custom games menu. Can anyone else confirm that you can turn on a flaming helmet during custom games?

If it is possible, it may be a setting that is triggered after you have achievement certain things in Halo 3. However, I'm not at all convinced that this is a selectable player trait.

that blue armor is called the Recon armor. The bungie team are the only ones to of had it. try finding that armor from its name.

The EOD armor is only available if you beat the campaign on legendary. To get the helmet you need to beat the entire campaign on legendary, the shoulders are available after u beat THE ARK on legendary, and the Body piece available after u beat tsavo highway on legendary.

No, this is a proven fact. Bungie only armor does exsist and the flaming helmets are legit.

As far as paying for DLC armor. Yeah, I would if it wasnt that much. If it was under say 400 points for a few different variants I probably would. But you can bet there will be TONS of DLC for this game. From armor, weapons, MP maps to possible campaign updates and bonus levels.

As of right now the *Recon armor is only available to Bungie employees. There is talk that the Recon chest plate(featured on all who wear flaming helmets) is the cause of the flaming effect seen on said employees.

There is also an exclusive flaming shoulder part, and body part. Which are both specially designed (aka, awesome looking) as well as aflame.

These two armor pieces are both only unlockable to the bungie team, go look at the armor specs at halo3planet they have more detailed stuff about both

Bungie said the Recon armor is for them but who knows, they could be trying to pull a slick one on us. So the Recon armor dont go out of style like the Samurai armor, Me and my friends are working on trying to find out how to get it but we dont know. I have found the Unkown Skull on Cortana map (2nd blind skull) and the 8th Hidden Terminal on Cortana, If anyone wants to help me look for it send me a Friend request. As for the Flaming Helmet, We might be able to get it, Dunno, Friend told me a secret about it lol.

Yes, I'm sure that that is not a helmet that is normally unlockable. My guess is that the "EOB" helmet, if that's what it is, is the same thing as the Recon armor that has recently been talked about. If not, o well, but I know for a fact that that is not a helmet that you can unlock in the normal manner. I have every achievement, like I said before, and I do not have that helmet. Neither do any of the other people I know who have all of the achievements. If that is the EOB helmet, then how do you unlock it? I've heard of it, but never seen a legitimate way to unlock it.

I wouldn't pay for it but the recon armor doesn't seem that hard to get even though only a few have it. Use your brain guys it isn't really that hard to get. Just do a really awesome kill or a really awesome suicide and you get it. I was thinking of putting fusion cores in the middle of guardian and getting lots of people, then shoot a guys through the foot so it got like a Overkill or something and title it, See, foot shots pwn

Frankly, I don't know how bungie gets away with charging 10 bucks for 3 measly maps. If there were 12 or 13 I might consider it, but 3? HA! I'll wait till they're free, thank you very much. I am not paying 10 bucks for a few megabytes of code and polygons.

I mean, hell, I never payed a cent for anything on halo 2, not even the subscription to x-box live, (2 month trials are awesome:))back when I was into that. Why would I start shelling out wads of cash for what is essentially nothing now? (I am paying for gold, but that's it. 48 hour trials is basically an f-you from microsoft.)

You shouldn't assume that because some people desire to purchase goods or services that you do not desire to purchase that those people are stupid simply because they are different. Having an effect on gameplay is a criteria you have imposed for yourself to determine whether to purchase something. That's fine. However, the social aspect of online gaming is a large part of why gamers use XBL. For instance, I purchased a pack of gamer pics a few days ago that cost somewhere around $1.xx It is important enough to me to have a personalized gamer pic that my friends can easily identify that I am willing to pay $1 for that luxury.

Re: XBL subscriptions...Having gamertag continuity and not having to worry about finding another 2-month trial card may be "nothing" to you, but many people (including myself) would rather pay $50/year and have a seamless experience.

Bottom line: Having the attitude that "Everybody that makes different decisions than me is stupid" shows a lack of awareness that there is a big world of people out there that all have different values and different incomes. Everybody decides to make a purchase because the good or service they are purchasing is worth the time/money/effort they decide to trade for it. There is essentially no utility is arguing that a good or service should be worth less. Everything is worth only what people will pay, but if people will pay it, then it's better to examine "why" than blanketly declare them "stupid."

I don't play enough H3 anymore to justify the new maps, so I do not plan to purchase them.

I wouldn't pay for amror alone. But if they made a pack including a few new "FUN" multiplayer maps, maybe a new mission or two, and were generous enough to throw new armor in, I'd pay for that.

2. My estimate for that cost is about/around/hopefully somewhere near too.... $20-$30. I mean, it wouldn't make them so special and easily recognizable with their goofy helmets. i would pay for a wider array of armor customization like face plate color-trans parency (for sertan camo hunters.) and forge moniter you can edid like say: rusty frame or light color or static

Interesting. However, Master Chief's polarizable faceplate will, sadly, lead to people knowing his face/ becoming almost invisble by making your character full-black.

You can unlock that armor in the game. It's the hayabusa helmet. You have to collect all of the skulls, including the silver skulls, to unlock it.

I found out how to get the flaming recon helmet. It was nearly impossibly. and because the time it took me to get it i will not share. just know its very hard. and is immune to headshots.

yes, recon armor is only avaliable to bungie employees only, and so is the flaming helmet... but its not a flaming helmet, its the chestplate that they are wearing. they designed it so that when they wear it, there is a flame sitting above th chest plate, so that it looks like they have a flaming helmet... it wouldnt make sense if looking at the pic at the top, because it wouldnt be flaming helmet, it would be flaming helmets.there is a recon chestplate, but you cant use it if you want your spartans head on fire. so like i said, its not the recon chestplate, its the bungie chestplate. here is a link to my scource:

I would pay for custom armour. But not have it flaming. I think you should be able to take all the armor in the game besides the flaming and color certain parts and stretch out the shoulders and stuff. Flaming helmets can be activating the 'bungee chestplate' in the armour section, this is exclusive to bungee staff and can be used in tandem with any helmet and looks identical to the EOD body, thus the confusion about the armour name.

the blue armour is the recon varient as stated earlier available to bungee and a select few community members (such as 'digitalph33r' for his machinima)

for the argument above,no it has no real advantage having recon armour BUT it proves that you have achived, maybe by accident, somthing that bungee deem impressive, awesome or just plain funny, so dont think, 'Oh that guy has recon, what a showoff..........' instead think, 'what did he do that impressed bungee enough to get that armour'

in answer to the real reason of this post,
i might pay for armour, but only if there were several sets and all were the same price(preferably less than 500 ms points) or all you would see would be the same DLC armour.

Actually, it's Recon armour, which is given to Bungie employees or awarded to players who have done something great for Halo or Bungie. The guys who made Red vs Blue probably got it. They also give it to people who have something wierd happen to them. Like the guy who somehow managed to shoot himself in the head with his own sniper rifle. Or the guy who died because a flying traffic cone impaled him. (In the game, of course)

There is one guy, who made youtube films using halo stuff, bungie liked it, and gave him recon armour, have a look at the second or third episode of "Arby and the chief" on Youtube,

Ok the blue guy in the pic is wearing RECON armour, not EOD. EOD is basically unlocked by going through the campaign on Legendary mode. RECON is specifically for Bungie employees. The way that in the pics the head is flaming, it is a special chestpiece ONCE AGAIN only for bungie employees. There are NO OTHER flaming armour pieces. Only the head, which is achieved by equipping the "Flaming Head" chest piece. Incidentally, the chest piece looks like the normal EOD chest piece. And wearing thi armour gives you no stat boosts. It is rumoured to be unlocked by listening to the bungie podcasts and finding out the code letters, the last few still haven't been released yet though. So stop spamming this thread with foolish attemps at trying to find RECON somewhere within the campaign.

I think you could seriously get dumber by reading this thread...

I think that, yeah its kinda cool, bu i can understand why bungie would want to keep it for themselfs. I mean they developed the game and they just want to have a cool special way to identify themselfs. hey, i agree, that the flamethrower affect is possable, but i have heard other places that it is possable for the flaming armor affect. How? i have no idea lol

to make a head be on fire u have to have a bungie body plate which looks exactly like EOD but without the lights on it. It makes any helmet be flaming. ONLY BUNGIE MEMBERS CAN GET BUNGIE BODY PLATE

To be a flaming bungie member and get flaming head, you have to send $10 to bungie's headquarters, with a note saying "I want fire head and bungie staff". You must include your Name, Address, Date of Birth, Social Security Number and of course XBL gamertag. You also have to get a letter of recommendation from your congressman. Good luck kids!

The blue helmet is not the EOB. It is the Bungie only Recon armor.

dude u guys are all so humping stupid the blue is called recon, you have to get bungie favorites for just that recon, then with the flames added on ANY helmet u have to be a bungie employee, its the chest piece that ignites the helmet that the bungie player chooses dumb asses. You guys dont know nothing about halo3 id 4 shot you all no doubt.

If you knew anything about Halo 3, then you'd know that the blue helmet is called 'Recon'... which is only available to bungie employees, as are the flaming helmets. Flaming helmets and Recon armor are for BUNGIE EMPLOYEES ONLY! You cant unlock it with 1000 gamerscore... Although, i have heard that these armors are being released in Summer of 2008, but there's a catch: THEY ARE GOING TO BE HARD AS HELL TO UNLOCK...

Actually the Flaming head is caused by the chest piece they are earing...Its called E.O.B...For Employees Of Bungie...The chest piece makes the head appear Flaming the only bad thing is when your in cammo it still shows the flames...

you cannot unlock the flaming armour or the helmet of the blue guy the helmet s recon wich bungie gives to tou and the flame is a chest peice that only bungie members can have so if you work at bungie then u get recon and the flaming chest.

if there are any bungie employees that you guys know please tell them to update the system because i really want my armor that i worked for.

first and formost these are two compleatly diffrent sets of armor. The flame is created by the chest armor it is only given to bungie members and can't be given away unles it is DLC, also the chest peice looks alot like EOD but if you look close it dosn't have lights for when you die. The RECON/EOB is a full set of armor (chest/helmet/shulders) and once agin is bungie armor but can be given if you either get on bungie favorits or win a contest that has it as a prize. The Recon armor (in blue) is only missing the chest armor witch looks alot like the armor master chief wore in the first game.

err guys u can get the flaming helmet if ur a bungie employee and its a chest plate u can make any helmet flaming abd i would pay microsoft points but i dunno how much

u probobly already know this but... to get recon(blue armor) u need to get all the vidmaster achievments

the flaming helmet is a body piece much like the EOD but with fire i belive only avalabe to bungie emploies though i may be wrong

The blue guys helmet looks crap. -- Would I pay for it? If it was 100 MP or less, hell yeah! If it was over 500 -- which it would be -- nope. It's not a flamethrower it's a little flame they get on their helms. You can see the flame anyway, while invisible.
This is my personal fav 2 armor sets.
Rouge helm (or, if you dont have it, mark FIVE -- not six.) -- on fire itd be wowzers
Security Shoulders or EVA if you dont have
Katana -- or EOD body.
All that in steel colour, try it out, any of those combinations look good.
One question... does it flame for elites?!

it is not flaming due to the flamethrower, i just played a guy whos head was flaming through the whole game, hence the reason im on here serching for "flaming recon"

My group works closely with bungie, There is no way that bungie can add armor permutations to H3. They can give you recon if they feel you did something awesome, or if you start working for them. There new ODST game will be fixing that problem, allowing them to add new armor through DLC.
