I'm surprised that none of you noticed that the blue guy's helmet is not a helmet that is normally unlockable. Trust me, I have all 1000 gs for Halo 3 and I do not have to armor. I even have the Katana body piece, but still, that helmet has never presented itself. Maybe the topic shouldn't be the flaming effect so much as the fact that their armor is armor that you can't unlock.

The point is that there could be more things added or unlocked to the game at a later date. I'm guessing all Bungie employees got the Flames via DLC.

Also, the flaming helmet is a settable player trait in custom game options.

I was unable to find this option this morning when looking through the custom games menu. Can anyone else confirm that you can turn on a flaming helmet during custom games?

If it is possible, it may be a setting that is triggered after you have achievement certain things in Halo 3. However, I'm not at all convinced that this is a selectable player trait.

The EOD armor is only available if you beat the campaign on legendary. To get the helmet you need to beat the entire campaign on legendary, the shoulders are available after u beat THE ARK on legendary, and the Body piece available after u beat tsavo highway on legendary.

As far as paying for DLC armor. Yeah, I would if it wasnt that much. If it was under say 400 points for a few different variants I probably would. But you can bet there will be TONS of DLC for this game. From armor, weapons, MP maps to possible campaign updates and bonus levels.

As of right now the *Recon armor is only available to Bungie employees. There is talk that the Recon chest plate(featured on all who wear flaming helmets) is the cause of the flaming effect seen on said employees.

Bungie said the Recon armor is for them but who knows, they could be trying to pull a slick one on us. So the Recon armor dont go out of style like the Samurai armor, Me and my friends are working on trying to find out how to get it but we dont know. Yes, I'm sure that that is not a helmet that is normally unlockable. My guess is that the "EOB" helmet, if that's what it is, is the same thing as the Recon armor that has recently been talked about. If not, o well, but I know for a fact that that is not a helmet that you can unlock in the normal manner. I have every achievement, like I said before, and I do not have that helmet. Neither do any of the other people I know who have all of the achievements. If that is the EOB helmet, then how do you unlock it? I've heard of it, but never seen a legitimate way to unlock it.

I wouldn't pay for it but the recon armor doesn't seem that hard to get even though only a few have it. Use your brain guys it isn't really that hard to get. Just do a really awesome kill or a really awesome suicide and you get it. Frankly, I don't know how bungie gets away with charging 10 bucks for 3 measly maps. If there were 12 or 13 I might consider it, but 3? HA! I'll wait till they're free, thank you very much. I am not paying 10 bucks for a few megabytes of code and polygons.

I mean, hell, I never payed a cent for anything on halo 2, not even the subscription to x-box live, (2 month trials are awesome:))back when I was into that. You shouldn't assume that because some people desire to purchase goods or services that you do not desire to purchase that those people are stupid simply because they are different. Having an effect on gameplay is a criteria you have imposed for yourself to determine whether to purchase something. That's fine. However, the social aspect of online gaming is a large part of why gamers use XBL. For instance, I purchased a pack of gamer pics a few days ago that cost somewhere around $1.xx It is important enough to me to have a personalized gamer pic that my friends can easily identify that I am willing to pay $1 for that luxury.

Re: XBL subscriptions...Having gamertag continuity and not having to worry about finding another 2-month trial card may be "nothing" to you, but many people (including myself) would rather pay $50/year and have a seamless experience.

Bottom line: Having the attitude that "Everybody that makes different decisions than me is stupid" shows a lack of awareness that there is a big world of people out there that all have different values and different incomes. Everybody decides to make a purchase because the good or service they are purchasing is worth the time/money/effort they decide to trade for it. There is essentially no utility is arguing that a good or service should be worth less. Everything is worth only what people will pay, but if people will pay it, then it's better to examine "why" than blanketly declare them "stupid."

I don't play enough H3 anymore to justify the new maps, so I do not plan to purchase them.

I wouldn't pay for amror alone. But if they made a pack including a few new "FUN" multiplayer maps, maybe a new mission or two, and were generous enough to throw new armor in, I'd pay for that.

i would pay for a wider array of armor customization like face plate color-trans parency (for sertan camo hunters.) and forge moniter you can edid like say: rusty frame or light color or static

Interesting. However, Master Chief's polarizable faceplate will, sadly, lead to people knowing his face/ becoming almost invisble by making your character full-black.

You can unlock that armor in the game. It's the hayabusa helmet. You have to collect all of the skulls, including the silver skulls, to unlock it.

I found out how to get the flaming recon helmet. It was nearly impossibly. and because the time it took me to get it i will not share. just know its very hard. and is immune to headshots.

yes, recon armor is only avaliable to bungie employees only, and so is the flaming helmet... but its not a flaming helmet, its the chestplate that they are wearing. they designed it so that when they wear it, there is a flame sitting above th chest plate, so that it looks like they have a flaming helmet... it wouldnt make sense if looking at the pic at the top, because it wouldnt be flaming helmet, it would be flaming helmets.there is a recon chestplate, but you cant use it if you want your spartans head on fire. so like i said, its not the recon chestplate, its the bungie chestplate. here is a link to my scource:

I think you should be able to take all the armor in the game besides the flaming and color certain parts and stretch out the shoulders and stuff. Flaming helmets can be activating the 'bungee chestplate' in the armour section, this is exclusive to bungee staff and can be used in tandem with any helmet and looks identical to the EOD body, thus the confusion about the armour name.

the blue armour is the recon varient as stated earlier available to bungee and a select few community members (such as 'digitalph33r' for his machinima)

for the argument above,no it has no real advantage having recon armour BUT it proves that you have achived, maybe by accident, somthing that bungee deem impressive, awesome or just plain funny, so dont think, 'Oh that guy has recon, what a showoff..........' instead think, 'what did he do that impressed bungee enough to get that armour'

in answer to the real reason of this post,
i might pay for armour, but only if there were several sets and all were the same price(preferably less than 500 ms points) or all you would see would be the same DLC armour.

Actually, it's Recon armour, which is given to Bungie employees or awarded to players who have done something great for Halo or Bungie. The guys who made Red vs Blue probably got it. They also give it to people who have something wierd happen to them. Like the guy who somehow managed to shoot himself in the head with his own sniper rifle. Or the guy who died because a flying traffic cone impaled him. (In the game, of course)

haha, hey, cool, I just saw someone with this helmet today. pretty neat. so yeah, bungie staff and their buddies and misc people who find ridiculous bugs it seems. break that shit, get a stupid piece of armor that makes you easier to see. no thanks.
