The Hushed Casket was founded in 2002 shortly after the launch of the XBOX console. Today the Hushed Casket is a thriving community of gamers, playing together and publishing news and stories that have appeared in major media properties like Newsweek, G4TV, USA Today, and Penny Arcade. Some game developers have even referenced our guides and news to support their gamers. We don't play Halo. We LAN Halo.

Yesterday photos appeared showing a white XBOX 360 with an HDMI port. Was that a Premium or a white Elite? Well, it was a Premium.
Over on FatWallet.com, one user reported buying an XBOX 360 Premium at their local Target yesterday. On the box was an HDMI logo. The owner confirmed that the Premium did in fact have an HDMI port on the back of the console.
All of a sudden the XBOX 360 has gotten more affordable while getting more powerful. Buy your Premiums with care and make sure you get one with HDMI out.
Tip: Get an HDMI to DVI cable to play your 360 on PC monitors. Don't buy the cable from Best Buy, CompUSA, Circuit City, etc. They will charge you $50 to $150 for a 6-foot cable. I just bought my cable for $10 from my local computer shop. Recall that the XBOX 360 VGA cable costs $40.
Note: See that port above the HDMI port in the image above? Notice anything different about it? You can't plug the first-gen XBOX 360 A/V packs into that slot if you have an HDMI cable plugged in at the same time. This may or may not affect anyone. Not worry, Microsoft ships a slimmed down A/V adapter to plug into the 360's A/V port. You can get Optical Audio and L/R Audio from that adapter.

Aww come on...
What is this?
This is Microsoft responding
This is Microsoft responding to the growing demands of the population who has increasingly better TVs. I think it's damn smart.
O RLY?
Why applaud when you can
Why applaud when you can ridicule.
Because whining solves everything, duh.
I'm just saying; first it was the Elite, now this. They're creating tiers and sub-tiers for the consumers who bought separate consoles. Originally, there was the Xbox 360 Premium and Core packs. I personally found it absurd considering that you got a much better deal and a hard drive with a Premium for only a $100 more, but that wasn't too bad. Then came along the Elite, which cost only $80.00, with improved hardware and a larger hard drive. Yes, I understand that the Elite was made for people who didn't have 360s and this newer product could entice them into buying one (the name is a bit ironic, considering that the newer consumers get an elite system while the people who already had 360s are stuck with something less). But where the Hell does that leave everyone who already has a console? They can't get the same benefits. I'm just whining and growning because I don't have an Elite or whatever, but now they added HDMI ports for the Premiums, too.
What happened to simpler times, when I got the Nintendo 64 and I didn't have to worry about Nintendo releasing a newer, better variation every eight months or something? I mean there were color variations of the N64, but those were all cosmetic. Yes, previous generations of systems had add-ons and products to enhance it, but they never integrated it with the console itself like the Xbox 360 is now, which could quite possibly affect peoples' decisions in the future before they buy a next-generation console at launch (aside from lowering prices as time goes on and as anticipated system sellers get released).
So, I applaud Microsoft for their decision, because in the end they're going to make more money. Right? It's not going to benefit me that much, though. /narcissist
You don’t have to “worry
You don't have to "worry about" console manufacturers releasing a new and better version. You got and still have exactly what you agreed to pay for. You (and I) decided that a Premium was worth $399 with no HDMI and we bought it when it was available and used it for almost two years. So be it.
I think what you're really saying is "I really wish I had _____ instead of ______." Welcome to life, and may I suggest calling the Whambulance.
