The Hushed Casket was founded in 2002 shortly after the launch of the XBOX console. Today the Hushed Casket is a thriving community of gamers, playing together and publishing news and stories that have appeared in major media properties like Newsweek, G4TV, USA Today, and Penny Arcade. Some game developers have even referenced our guides and news to support their gamers. We don't play Halo. We LAN Halo.
The Microsoft fanboy in me may never forgive me for posting this video. But as a gamer and a lover of immersive first person shooters, I must post this video.
First off, do yourself a favor and what it in uber high resolution. Stream the video from here: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/21637.html
Else, stay here and watch this lower resolution blurry POS:
I don't own a PlayStation 3. But trailers like this make me want to own one. All of a sudden, HALO 3 looks a lot different to me.

Holy crap
Holy crap. Immersive
H3 better bring the pain. From the looks of it, that's GoW like graphics or better with better physics in a solid FPS.
Wow
Wow

You say Halo 3 looks
You say Halo 3 looks "different." Do you mean $130 looks a lot cheaper compared to $499 + HDMI cable cost + $60 game?
And wow, the graphics are definitely there. I hope the gameplay is as good.
Looks like they tightened up the graphics!
It's no Crysis, though.
Yeah HALO 3 looks different.
Yeah HALO 3 looks different. It looks worse for one.
HALO 3 ($60) + XBOX 360 Elite ($480) + XBOX Live ($50/yr)= $600 + tax
It seems that startup costs are similar for anyone jumping ship to the other side. If one makes a decision on graphics alone (which a ton of people do), then Killzone 2 wins, with Gears of War coming in a distant second. HALO 3 looks like a cartoon compared to Killzone.
I wouldn’t say
I wouldn't say Killzone's graphics are a GoW-killer, but they're about the same. I'm not blindly defending Halo 3, because Killzone's graphics are amazing, but I read that Halo 3's candy-colored spartans are a gameplay decision. It makes it easier to distinguish who's who on the battlefield. Remember when you first started playing Gears, how you couldn't tell the difference between Locust and Humans in multiplayer? You never had that problem in Halo, and it is because it's easy to distinguish red from blue. Sure it looks cartoony, but that's the art style. I'm sure the technology is pretty much similar.
But 99% the gamers have a
But 99% the gamers have a clue as to why HALO's art style is the way it is. Surely Killzone 2 will look more impressive to them.
Also, when I compare the GoW cinematics to the Killzone 2 trailer, Killzone wins.
Crysis vs GoW II
Crysis is also no Gears of War II. Hey, if we're gonna compare games that are still in development then let's go for broke.
I've never seen anyone use an unreleased game as a graphical benchmark as vehemently as you.
Crysis hits holiday 07. GoW
Crysis hits holiday 07. GoW PC hits then also. Is it fair to compare a DX10 GoW PC to a DX10 Crysis? Probably not. Crysis was built for DX10 and the PC from the beginning. It may be unfair to compare Crysis to any console game.
While Killzone 2 doesn't come out until 2008, it is a console game - just like GoW 360 was - just like HALO 3 will be.
Shwat?
I've never seen anyone use an unreleased game as a graphical benchmark as vehemently as you.
By the way, who edited my post and added in images? Not that I mind.
Ya know
Ninjas.
wow
i admit it looks really good but i hate to say still will not make the ps3 worth 500 bucks and if they only are going to be selling the 600 dollar ps3 in a few months yeah forget that no matter how good a game looks its not worth a 700 dollar investment so ill stick with my wii and 360 till they dont cost a arm and a leg for one game that looks like it couldbe bad ass
Duh.
Ninjas.
Tell that to the guy who
Tell that to the guy who buys $600 video cards... (no, I don't specifically mean rapture)
The first killzone gameplay
The first killzone gameplay was so linear that I can understand how killzone 2 can look better than H3. If k2 is anything like its predecessor, which i have played for a bit then no wonder they can pump some pretty graphics into it. The graphics for the first were not bad at all considering it was on a ps2, but when compared to a game like Halo the gameplay just sucked. GoW was an awesome game and one of my favorites since halo, but it is also linear gameplay wise, which in my opinion contributes to a game looking pretty. You have a set course and cannot stray out of it, sure Halo has a set course as well...but between point A and B there is a much broader area you can explore. Though I should stress that the difference between the goodness of GoW and the crap that is killzone 1 are so far apart they really cant be talked about in the same gaming realm with any accountability. Any game that has the words "Halo Killer" associated with it is destined to fail...it may be a great game, but there is and never will be a halo killer.
man thats just way to much
man thats just way to much money to spend for 1 game and iam sorry pc gameing is bad ass just way to pricey for me to keep upgradeing my pc cards
this sounds exactly like all
this sounds exactly like all the hype surrounding the original killzone which ended up being horrible. plus as far as graphics go the beta of halo 3 is not only an unfinished version but bungie has said that the campain graphics will be far superior to the multiplayer because of the need to pick out players onscreen.
Okay, when you’re putting
Okay, when you're putting up pictures of multi player Halo vs single player Killzone, that's kind of a ridiculous comparison. Also while the graphics were nice in that trailer, they were nice in the first Killzone as well, but that game was boring as heck. The gameplay in this looks the same, you spend like the last chunck of gameplay pushing a button on a console and shooting at a giant stationary phallic symbol that doesn't shoot back. Boring.
I prefer the color used in Halo to the monotone of something like Killzone or Gears anyway. This picture is probably more fair for comparison as it's from single player:
http://www.bungie.net/projects/halo3/asset_popup_viewer.aspx?at=59&cc=21&item=6
And it makes a nice desktop background :)
And honestly, looking closer at the pictures posted here of Killzone and Halo 3 multiplayer, while Killzones monotone colors give it a more striking and maybe more interesting still frame, if you sit and actually look at the level of detail the Halo 3 shot actually looks a bit more detailed, from the terrain on the ground to the intricacies of that actual charaters armor. Having actual human faces that look more real than most games might also make Killzone seem more striking, but even from that multiplayer shot of Halo 3 I see more detail there... and single player looks even better.
I'm through...
I'm going to quit trying... Please, all who read this, try to make your grammar at least semi-legable before posting... *defeated sigh*
Halo 3 Rocks!
Halo 3 Rocks! Don't care! Up!... Ett!... Na!... Chht!... I'm not listening, nana nana nana! I pre-ordered it, I'm a Microsoft man, I don't care what you say about Killzone or Crysis or Sony. It's my opinion, deal with it. *Sticks out tongue indignantly*
P.S. I'm fine with anyone who likes the PS3, Killzone, or Crysis. I just don't care. I like what I like, and nothing you can say or do (short of beating me senseless) can change my opinion. You post your opinions, I'll post mine, everyone's happy. Unless of course you're not happy, in which case, I still don't care.
