That looks like a lot of fun. I'm unclear if the vocals are part of the game or just a cool way to include another friend.
Just rewatched and BB pointed out the karaoke style lyric ticker at the top of the screen. Looks like there's also a meter that measures and scores your vocal pitch?!?

The mic can also be used as a tambourine during times when there is no singing. All you have to do is hit the mic at the right time.
