Microsoft has started an Alternate Reality Game (ARG). They have done this with HALO 1 and HALO 2. The ARG for HALO 2 was commonly known as "I Love Bees" as ilovebees.com as discovered in the last frame of a HALO 2 marketing video. Adjutant Reflex is a user on the Bungie.net forum and opened this ARG by posting on the HALO 3 forums at Bungie.net. Adjutant Reflex's account can only be setup by a Bungie forum administrator and has the group class of "Compound Intelligence" separating him/her/it from the rest of the users.
A Circuit City ad was set to be released this weekend in newspapers from around the country. However, someone found the ad early and noticed that HALO3.com/comic was an URL hidden in the ad. You can also notice a "glyph" icon that's now associated with the ARG. HALO3.com/comic was probably discovered prematurely which means some things in the ARG may currently be out of order. However, that ARG may very well not be broken as it appears to be very deep.

It keeps getting harder and harder to send these transmitions to you guys. I've watched this "countdown" of yours, but I don't know what it's for. All I know is this, for some strange reason they all start at 110 and then skip down to 66 from 100. I don't know why, but I just thought you might want to know. Got to go again. How do they keep finding me so fast? Must be those new "smart" AI. As if the first were ever "dumb"...

After closer observations I have found another interesting tidbit. Thought I'd let you chew on it a while. The countdown starts at 113 not 115. 113 and 66 hmm... I can't thing of what they mean as of now. Got to go again.

I might have something here... or less than nothing. I subtracted 66 from 113 and got 47, but 206.16.223.47 led to a different gaming studio's web page. Then I subtracted 6 from 9, the missing numbers, and got three, then I multiplied 3 times 5, the number of times those numbers are missing, and got 15. I added that to 47 and got 62. I typed in 206.16.223 and what came up was a tab that said forbidden at the top.The actual page said that whoever owned the site was refusing to let anyone in.

There is no significance for the skip from 100 to 66. The numbers are in base 7, meaning that each digit column runs from 0 - 6 (with zero being the first entry, and 6 being the seventh). Base 10 runs from 0 - 9, so the next entry down from 100 in base 10 would be 099, but the next entry down from 100 in base 7 would be 066. The only question is, what is the significance of 113 as a starting point for the countdown?
Also, notice that none of the URLs contain numbers that are higher than 6:

The IP address that leads to the Society of the Ancients website was found by mistake. We aren't supposed to know the Society of the Ancients website by its IP addresss. We are supposed to know it via www.societyoftheancients.com.
Yes, I agree, 113 is a very strange number to start at. As for now, I suggest patience. Whoever is behind all this will make everything clear when the time is right. We just need to wait for the countdown to reach 0 and follow any new leads from there.

One last thing. Why put the countdown in base seven? Wouldn,t it be just as easy and much easier to understand if they put it in base 9. I believe that base 7 might have some significance too.
Base 9? I think you mean Base 10 - which is how we all normally count.
Using "7" is something Bungie would do. Bungie loves the number 7. It is sprinkled throughout all of their games and HALO universe.
If it was easy to understand, it wouldn't be as intriguing. MSBungie wants us to think about the ARG and its puzzles.

Now I want to talk about this monitor, or whatever it is. From what I know of forerunner technology, theses things are usually misguided, and almost always in some stage of rampancy. Why should we help it? Look what happened to John when he helped a monitor. He almost destroyed all sentient life in the galaxy. I say we let things run their course. Or maybe try to contact whoever or whatever is trying to destroy this "Adjutant". Decide which side we really want to be on.
Yeah, it's stopped for me too. That said, I also noticed that earlier today, it kept loading up the countdown at the same point - it's a movie, not a running countdown. Once I realized that, I've had a window open running it down all day. Currently sitting at 015 051 000 or so. I'll see what happens when it hits 0.

Server 5 is open. I clicked the countdown link and it took me to a new menu where I could spin this thing around with my mouse.
I was just looking through some of the links that the society of the ancients produced, and even though maybe it's a stretch, I thought maybe the laboratory itself might be related to the marketing campaign... the front page of the site shows the APS electron accelerator, which actually bears a striking resemblance to the glyph mentioned before. On the site there are several pictures, one can easily identify the crossbar and the central circle in the accelerator and match them to the glyph. I'm not sure if that means anything, concerned with Ajunct Reflex, but I thought your update might want to check it out-- if that jankity picture on the rock from sota was included, maybe this would be another avenue.

There are 5 buttons on the spiny thing. One opens a video. the others are file downloads 2 notes and 2 pictures.
did anybody else notice a shot of a monitor in the flash movie for a split second? if anybody could split up that video frame by frame it would be sick, there were tons of things that just flashed by. i'm pretty sure i also saw what looked like the halo firing, like in campaign mode.
and in the long text file, d-com sounds like the forerunner person who fired the halo, and its talking to another thing or person. perhaps the monitor?
We've recorded the video that the server #1 plays on the website.
With further observation, we slowed down the video to watch it frame by frame. Without our recording or being able to play this video frame by frame, you miss two messages that seem to complete a very cryptic message. Or at least make sense of the wording of the sentences.
The first message comes after "...ANYONE AROUND TO WITNESS THIS WARNING"
The first hidden message reads:"If you are that witness and it seems that
we pinned all of our hopes on this single suicidal plan"
The second message comes after "KNOW THAT A THOUSAND OTHER PLANS WERE TRIED AND FAILED"
The second hidden message reads:"Millions of brave and honored souls died trying to avert this desperate terrible solution"
The second message appears to be more of a sidenote than anything else, but yet, it was hidden from us and unatainable at the speed in which the video played.
Also,
we've looked up some of the numbers and lettering on the image of what seems to be a microscopic view of some sort of bacteria, and we've gotten to pages with lists of genomes for prokaryotes as well as websites that say that "array-sdr" seems to coincide with some sort of radio frequence? Not too sure about any of these findings yet or if they have any signifiance, but hey, anything helps? Try waiting for midnight tongiht, to see if any more clues are revealed.

has anybody figured anything out with "starimage1"? i tried opening it as text to see if there was any hidden words in there but i found nothing. if you open it in MSword, its almost a thousand pages. and nothing on page 777 :)

I don't know if I skipped something or what, but when I get to the "Server 5 Open" window, I get a spinning crystal type thing with a metal shell. Is this a new development, or am I just stupid?

I may be grasping at straws here, but has anyone noticed how closely the glyph resmebles a great number of puzzles in the Uru: Ages beyond Myst game? Did anyone who worked for Ubisoft or Cyan now work for Bungie?
