societyoftheancients.com. The new ilovebees.com? HALO 3 ARG continues...

Go here for our update on the Society of the Ancients: http://hushedcasket.com/node/2063

Just when someone finds one IP address (206.16.223.65), someone goes out an find another (206.16.223.63). The Society of the Ancients have a homepage. Who knew? Looks like 1996 was the last time that page was updated.

There is relatively a lot of information on the site. One thing that jumps out at us? Another glyph. This glyph is probably the same "sign" that Adjutant Reflex said was scattered (around the intertubes). We've seen it in MC's helmet visor on HALO3.com. We've see it in the viral email sent out. Now here. Click on the "evidence" link and you'll see this image:

Text with that image: " This was just sent to me from a SOTA member traveling through Tanzania. The rock painting (as of yet undated) was pointed out last month by a local safari guide."

Tanzania? Definitely on the right track. Digging around the site you'll find a PDF file. In that file is a reference to societyoftheancients.com.

The link to sign up for the mailing list is a blank Mailto link w/o a subject?

J-Ray's picture

In the source code there is a link to a PDF document to sign-up for membership. It doesn't display on the page though. The PDF Document is real.

Yes. The links are "fake". A least - they aren't properly formatted.

You can dig around the site and get to a PDF file: http://206.16.223.63/sota_images/SOTA_membership.pdf

In that file is an email address at thesocietyoftheancients.com. That domain name is not registered so all mail sent to it will bounce back to you.

Was wrong. The URL is societyoftheancients.com and it does work. Don't know if the email works.

ok so i typed in 206.16.223.63 into google search and only one match came up and that was a site that had the name Onyx in the address to it...

http://onyx2ced.frascati.enea.it/~videoftu/vecchi/Videodata/Port_5_hor/18994/16.dat

thats the site..the numbers are in the last column 26 lines down i think take a look if you want but doesnt seem that important. just thought it was an interesting link to this and a title to one of the Halo books.

the PDF says that "membership reviews usually happen on the first day of a new lunar cycle" which just so happens to be June 15th at 3:14am

copy and paste that into your address bar...yeah i know its from myspace....but really if you read that blog post and look at the date...i think its from a day or two ago..its about societyoftheancients.com

i thought that this site was just a fake thing made up by bungie/microsoft...but for some reason this guy on myspace knew about it and a lot about it before any of us did...very strange..might be connected..might not

thoughts from anyone??

jayWHY's picture

Anything on MySpace is bogus. The guy could simply edit a post from two days ago and put in the information.

rapture's picture

The MySpace page looks like it could be legit.

However, it can't be trusted.

Microsoft used blogspot.com during HALO2 to introduce a real-world character. Would they use MySpace for HALO3? Doubt it.

Like jay said, anyone can back date posts on MySpace.

Could somebody who knows Japanese look at the list of anagrams for Avery Fane and see if any of it makes sense?

Good thought, but I don't think Avery Fane is a part of the ARG. He's posted that he's not official.

a full outline of what's happened so far is on the wiki

nice find with the UK rally BTW!

Yeah, but I still find his wording in the message interesting. It just seems out of place.

The Transmission Log has ended its countdown and has frozen on the numbers 001 012 034 053. Go to MapQuest and type these numbers in a latitude and longitude:

Latitude: 001.012
Longitude: 034.053

You'll discover this is located in Uganda, Africa near Mount Elgon. This might not seem significant, but try googling Mount Elgon and you'll find interesting results. A famous cave in this mountain is the Kitum Cave - try googling that and you'll find even more interesting results. Also check out wikipedia.

Apparently this region is referred to as "the region from which the human race is thought to originate", and the cave itself is referred to as "The Gates of Hell." This has obvious links to the Ark and to Halo itself. But don't take my word for it, check it out for yourself.
