The Hushed Casket was founded in 2002 shortly after the launch of the XBOX console. Today the Hushed Casket is a thriving community of gamers, playing together and publishing news and stories that have appeared in major media properties like Newsweek, G4TV, USA Today, and Penny Arcade. Some game developers have even referenced our guides and news to support their gamers. We don't play Halo. We LAN Halo.
So I spent a good half-hour submitting (what I thought was) a concise, well-written story of my favorite experience during the beta for a contest. It was only after I submitted it (of course) that I realized the stories would be chosen at random.
Because of the possibility that nobody will ever see it, I thought I might as well share it with you guys. Midnight will recognize it. Enjoy:
It started out like any other game. Valhalla faded into view, and I set out to begin my path of destruction. My teammates ventured to capture a territory, but my journey of mayhem began with man's best friend: the M12-LRV Warthog.
I eased into the comfy leather seat, gunned the engine, and began touring the beautiful canyon. Reckless driving is a great passion to indulge in, and the Warthog is the perfect vehicle to satiate that thirst. I spun donuts, rolled over hills, and even let a man gun the turret.
It was at this moment I realized I wanted to do something great. Wouldn't it be remarkable if I could splatter an enemy? The vehicle seemed to steer itself to the enemy base. Hey, there's a little hill right in front of their base! Who needs to run over enemies if you could land a sweet jump? I just need to align the 'hog a little, get some speed... Hey, is that a man going off their man-cannon? Is he flying right in front of me? *WHAM* Whoa! I have a new hood ornament!
Did anybody else see that!? Save your replay! Man, multiple perspectives never get old...
