The Hushed Casket was founded in 2002 shortly after the launch of the XBOX console. Today the Hushed Casket is a thriving community of gamers, playing together and publishing news and stories that have appeared in major media properties like Newsweek, G4TV, USA Today, and Penny Arcade. Some game developers have even referenced our guides and news to support their gamers. We don't play Halo. We LAN Halo.
Gotfrag.com has been acquired by MLG. Gotfrag is one of (if not the) place to go for competitive gaming news. In the last few years they've started covering competitive console gaming.
It will be interesting to see how MLG controls the website. Will other leagues and tournaments be covered by Gotfrag now?
Sure an MLG can't buy an ESPN and have them only report on baseball news.

Get notified of game nights and important THX announcements via the hushedcasket Twitter account. You can get the messages on your cell phone, through email, Facebook, and many other ways. Here's how it goes down.
Hmm...
GotFrag got owned.
We'll see what happens.
We'll see what happens. I've already seen the little 1.6 cry babies come out of the woodworks to moan, "Oh noes my dearest GotFrag is dead now stupid MLG consoles aren't competitive blah blah blah cry cry cry whine some more." It was bought out for supposedly 5-7 million dollars, which, honestly, is extremely low. MLG got a 20-30 million dollar company for cheap. I bet we'll see the VOD turn to Octoshape now, which is amazing in its own right. Going to be interesting, especially with GotFrag's "unbiased" coverage *cough*neverputsanyothermediacompany'snameinarticles*cough*.

I was unaware Gotfrag sold
I was unaware Gotfrag sold for that much money. I'm surprised. I don't see how it's worth more than a million bucks, let alone 30 million. I can't see that website making more than $100K a year.
I guess MLG is buying based on the number of user accounts on the GotFrag website.
The main reason it is worth
The main reason it is worth so much is the advertising power that it has. When you consider that essentially 100% of the CS community takes whatever GF says as gospel, and is driven by what is said on GF, all you have to do is put up an ad for really anything and it'll be snapped up in an instant. The website itself isn't anything special, other than the fact that they were charged something along the lines of $50K to have it done, and the company that did it is now charging ridiculous amounts for shoddy work. The flip side to all this, is that with all the acquisitions MLG is making, they're diluting their working capital fairly far. Spreading themselves kinda thin. Even 30 million gets used up when you're talking figures this large.
