The Hushed Casket was founded in 2002 shortly after the launch of the XBOX console. Today the Hushed Casket is a thriving community of gamers, playing together and publishing news and stories that have appeared in major media properties like Newsweek, G4TV, USA Today, and Penny Arcade. Some game developers have even referenced our guides and news to support their gamers. We don't play Halo. We LAN Halo.
Some fresh Guitar Hero III news has hit the web. Gameplay footage made it's way onto YouTube. See below. Also, IGN has an article about the upcoming game with some neat screenshots.
What are you expecting in GH3. Better graphics? Would you settle for an add-on pack for your GH2 game? Do you want more features?
More media after the break.

Article at IGN about GH3: http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/792/792801p1.html
"Give the fans what they want. That means the development team won't rock the boat too hard, staying true to the gameplay first laid out by Harmonix. But it also means that more of the songs and features we've all been clamoring for will finally make it in."

Thoughts on the improved graphics? Is it just a masking for a game that we could get in GH2 if they would release more tracks?

Any word on whether or not
Any word on whether or not this will appear on PS2? It wouldn't make sense business-wise to release the games on the next-gen consoles only because of the huge installed base on PS2. I know I sure don't have the money to upgrade to XB360 GHII.
Who cares about the graphics? I'd play this game on the Sega Genesis if that's all they made it for.
I like what I see. Looks
I like what I see. Looks like traditional GH/GH II with some slightly updated player models. I like the "trip odometer" that tells you how close you are to the next multiplier. Should make it easier to plan when to use star power.
You know there is a "trip
You know there is a "trip odometer" in GHII, right? Just above the "x2, x3, x4" sign, there is an arc of little circles that tell you how close you are to the next multiplier. The one in GHIII does look better, though.
I hadn't connected that
I hadn't connected that meter with the multiplier. Thanks for the tip.
You beat that Dick Dale song
You beat that Dick Dale song yet? Don't make me come over there!
New 360 Wireless guitar
New 360 Wireless guitar prototype!
GH2-80s, but I think that'll be the last.
GH2 80s sounds good, GH3 I worry about, but am optimistic. Also I am sure GH3 is coming to PS2, I hope.
Did anyone hear what Activision said last week? I forget exactly, but if you do a search on Digg you can probably find it. They basically said Rock Band is going to suck, Guitar Hero rules.
Guitar Hero was done by the guys that are now doing Rock Band (Harmonix), the Guitar Hero license was sold to Activision by Red Octane (which for some reason I had always thought those 2 companies were one and the same, but I guess RO is just the publisher/license holder), and Harmonix entered into a new publishing deal with EA (slightly bigger than Red Octane). So now Rock Band with EA (#1 publisher in the states), and Guitar Hero 3 with Activision (#2 publisher in the states).
So Neversoft is working on GH3 (LOVE THEM, they are nice guys/gals and make fun games), but last I heard (forget where again) they are working on the game with little legacy code from GH2, and given what we see on this video it seems they haven't quite got the timing down on their prototype. Now I'm sure Neversoft will get it dialed in perfectly, espically if they have the testers from Red Octane that worked on GH2. Got a friend on that team, great guy, plays Cowboys from Hell Expert without looking.
Rock Band, new "thing" for Harmonix, but given Harmonix experience with rhythm games (Freq/Amplitude, GH) and singing games (Karaoke Rev), I'd wager if anyone can pull these 2 genres together sucessfully, it's these guys.
The best thing these 2 games have going is they are being published by mega publishers now, and chances are were going to get a lot less "As Made Famous By" songs and a lot more "As Performed By" songs. Don't get me wrong, a lot of the cover songs are well done, props to the guys that work on these games.
Good info, android. Is
Good info, android. Is Neversoft really coding GH III from scratch? That's difficult to believe.
BTW, JDogg and I unlocked 600k pair yesterday. 800k pair is gonna be tough, and millionaire pair is nigh unreachable.
Activision totally bought
Activision totally bought out Red Octane so they could have the people and the license to make future guitar hero games. I really enjoy GH2 and have played the first one for the PS2 and in comparing the two game wise I would have to give the edge to Red Octane. But Harmonix deserves the creative credit for coming up with the idea to begin with. Obviously, Activision from what Ive read had to choose between the 2 developing companies and subsequently chose Red Octane. They must have had a reason to snub Harmonix. For GH3 Red Octane is the publisher and Neversoft is doing the actual development this time around...they also have done tony hawk games in the past.
Midnight and I did watch the making of videos and they were not really informative, but it was cool to see some of the cover singers actual in their studio. Seemed like the guys at Red Octane have a great love for music as was seen by some of them playing guitar. Last night was fun btw.
