We want your HALO 3 screenshots here. Add yours.
The Hushed Casket was founded in 2002 shortly after the launch of the XBOX console. Today the Hushed Casket is a thriving community of gamers, playing together and publishing news and stories that have appeared in major media properties like Newsweek, G4TV, USA Today, and Penny Arcade. Some game developers have even referenced our guides and news to support their gamers. We don't play Halo. We LAN Halo.
Update: It's actually a M6G. says Frankie.
Update: Looks like we could be sorely disappointed. "Pistol info is wrong in one regard. Not scoped in H3. Ninjas have been assigned." source - thanks jay

HALO3.com has been updated with some new information. Among the new content is a listing of weapons. The first one listed? The M6D.
Unfortunately, we get no performance information. However, they do mention the 2x scope.
What if HALO 3 ships with the old-school HALO 1 pistol?

Let 'er rip
Then shit would be off the chain.
Interesting...
Three shot kills, anyone?
From the page: "...it is

Things are looking up. We were just discussing a couple night ago how you can no longer pistol snipe across Hang'em High. This would make things a lot better.
The problem is three shot
The problem is three shot kills are WAY fast. I'd guess maybe around two shots out of the battle rifle fast. Plus remember all the other weapons have been tuned. The rocket is weaker. So is the shotgun. The plasma rifle isn't sticky and so on. The pistol would be extremely dominate if it returned as it's H1 version. They've either fudged the pistol or maybe they created a H1 weapon-set mode preferably with the old maps. Here's to hoping for the latter.
It probably won't be in Halo 3.
It's just there on Halo3.com, that doesn't mean it'll be in the game.
H3 Weapons
H3 pistol = no scope
Updated post to reflect new info. Frankie says there is no zooming with the pistol.
Now we can only hope it's H1 pistol w/o scope.
Geez, just when there was
Geez, just when there was hope...
Yes, let's bring back Halo's imperfections...
Well someone's wrong
Well someone's wrong.. the Halo3 website states otherwise..
"The M6D pistol is a typical UNSC sidearm. It fires high explosive bullets with a relatively fast rate of fire and good accuracy. The M6D comes fitted with a 2x scope, so while hardly a sniping weapon, it is very accurate over long distances"
From reading through forums, it appears the hump above the muzzle of the gun is a wireless camera that provides for the 2x scopeage.
Frankie said it didn't have
Frankie said it didn't have a scope and that the web site is wrong.
I'm willing to sacrifice
I'm willing to sacrifice realism for the gameplay mechanic of the H1 pistol. I would actually prefer that a rifle had the same function, but I don't think that's an option at this point.
Just reviewed Frankie's
Just reviewed Frankie's weekly update and noticed that a picture showing button functions says you'll have to press the d-pad to talk. I was really hoping they'd ditch that. I much prefer the GoW system where I can hear everyone all the time. I've got a lot of buttons to press in stressful situations, and the last-second communication I utter before I die can swing 1-2 kills.
Hear hear!
Agreed. Perhaps they'll let you do that in the options? Let's hope so.
It sounds like you are
It sounds like you are limited by your communications options on your console.
Nowai.
I thought the PTT (Push to
I thought the PTT (Push to Talk) system in Halo was to promote the "proximity" chat in the game. Instead of telling the entire team that you want Chico to invade Hotel Rowanda before you, just tell Chico standing right next to you. This leaves the team channel free to discuss the current location of the rockets on the Teamspeak channel.
Perhaps so, but I've found
Perhaps so, but I've found that the sharing of information with the rest of the team about said raid of Hotel Rwanda outweighs the fact you're clogging the comm channel. I also find it difficult to use the proximity feature because I am always unsure how far out my voice is audible. Unless you are right beside me then I don't have real confidence that my message will be heard without using the team channel.
That definitely bugs me. I
That definitely bugs me. I am always wondering if my team member heard me or not. I find myself pressing the push to talk almost every time I talk because of this.
The GOW system is much better.
Yawai.
The GOW system is much better.
I'd rather the whole team
I'd rather the whole team have the same information - especially when there's only a few other people on your team. There's rarely more than 6 people on a team. Usually in H2, there's only 3-5 other people on your team. In GoW, there's only 3 other people on your team.
In BF2, you had squad systems. I think you could play 32 v 32. In that setting, it made since to have comms go through a squad leader. The squad of 4-6 would go off, fight their fight, and talk to themselves. The leader should relay info back to other squad leaders and the commander if need be. 32 people jamming up the comms wouldn't be good. However, with just 6-8 people at most in a 360 game, it's not that big a deal.
