The Hushed Casket was founded in 2002 shortly after the launch of the XBOX console. Today the Hushed Casket is a thriving community of gamers, playing together and publishing news and stories that have appeared in major media properties like Newsweek, G4TV, USA Today, and Penny Arcade. Some game developers have even referenced our guides and news to support their gamers. We don't play Halo. We LAN Halo.
After eating dinner Christina and I wandered into the nearby Gamestop and picked up the GHII demo. We took turns playing Cherry Pie and were hooked. We tried to buy it from them but they didn't have any more. We had them call two other stores nearby with no luck. Finally, after visiting four stores I found it in WalMart. Apparently it's sold out everywhere. The guy at the WM counter said "Finally found one, huh?" Not having told him of my journey, I replied, "Uh..yeah, finally. I can't believe you guys have three." "Three?" he replied. "We had twelve this morning. You're very lucky."
Yes I am.

Rocking out to Danzig is about the most fun I've had gaming. If you're a fan of rock and roll as well as gaming then this is a game for you. I'm working through it on easy right now, which is pretty easy. However, it's insane fun. I'll have fun going through it again on each subsequent difficult, I'm sure. Danzig, Warrant, Ozzy, Alice in Chains, and Guns and Roses are the most fun for me right now. I look forward to downloading Motorhead and Edgar Winter when I finish the standard songs.
I'm able to 5-star most of them on easy on my first try, although I have had to play a few of them twice. Medium is tougher, though. It brings in more chords plus an extra button. I hope my pinky finger is up for a workout. GHII FTW!

I haven't played through
I haven't played through Hard yet. Hard is, well, hard for me. It's hard for me to 5 star any Medium song. I had some trouble getting 5 stars on some songs on Easy.
I've noticed that my pinkie has gotten a workout.
"Woman, you know you're a
"Woman, you know you're a woman, you got to be a woman, I got the feeling of love!"
That's one of my favorite GHII songs.
If you need helping beating anything on Expert, give me a ring and I'll be there. Yes, in CA.
You'll notice that your normally-weakest-finger-aka-your-ring-finger gets way stronger, too.
It's about time other THXers start picking up this game :)
Monkey Wrench by Oculus (as written by the Foo Fighters)
LOL at that picture.
Can anyone play Monkey Wrench on 'Hard' with their eyes closed the whole time... I can.
You guys need to unlock 'Less talk more rock' by Freeze Pop.. stick it on expert and laugh away.
Finished the easy tour this
Finished the easy tour this morning and started the medium tour. The medium tour is much nicer, working in the 4th button and more chords. I'm able to 5-star most songs the first time, but have had to play one twice.
Medium is a lot cooler because of the encores and cash you earn. After playing four songs if the audience likes you a lot they'll ask for an encore. It kind of "unlocks" an encore song for you. My first one was Shout at the Devil, which I really like (it's my cell phone ring tone). I haven't spent any money in the store yet. I do like the Zack Wylde custom guitar finish. I've always liked Zack Wylde with Ozzy, solo, and in the movie Rockstar. Are there any advantages to buying anything in the store, or is it all just cosmetic?
All the skins in the store
All the skins in the store are cosmetic, but it's totally awesome to jam on a double-necked Gibson.
Just wait til you beat the game on Hard; using all the buttons and beating the songs is a true sense of accomplishment. I still have yet to beat the game on Expert because the intro to Crazy on You is a bitch!
Just out of curiosity..
Does anybody here actually play guitar?
I play Guitar...
I play Guitar...
Hero. =)
Yes, I have played guitar
Yes, I have played guitar since I was 14. I haven't consistently improved since then (I peaked about 19) but I still pick up a guitar and amp every 2-3 weeks.
Brick plays as well.
I play some
I play some. I thought Occ played too. Torrent plays. JayWHY may play.
Half of old school played. I can't remember everyone, and I have a feeling that there are some closet guitarists out there.
It's really a popular instrument. They even created a game for people who don't want to invest in a real guitar and learn the actual song. The name escapes me, but it was so popular that a sequal was recently released. You might track it down and check it out. I hear it's actually kind of fun.
:)
Guitar stuff
I have good coordination as far as being able to play chords and mimick what friends are playing. However, I wouldn't be able to play any song on guitar if you asked me to right now without the tabs. I can play the drums though.
The later songs in Detroit
The later songs in Detroit and Stonehenge are making an honest man out of me. I could 5-star the earlier songs on medium on my 1st try, then in the middle I'd have to get a feel for the song and then restart once. Now for the last songs I have to practice it 2-3 times before I have a prayer of 5-starring it. Psycho Billy Freakout was a real PITA. I had to practice it in practice mode and slow one part of it down to slowest to get the hang of it. I really hate that song. It's so cheesy. It has been the single most difficult song so far, requiring about an hour or more of practice.
I think 5-starring all the songs on medium will be the last difficulty I attempt that feat at. I'll complete the game on hard, and maybe expert if I'm lucky, but no more 5-starring. My fingers hurt. Time for bed.
Unlocked a few more
Unlocked a few more achievements this week. Playing a song with lefty flip on was neat, and netted me the "Hendrix Award" achievement. I used my hard earned cash to buy all the characters, guitars, and finishes to get those three achievements. Now I'm working through hard trying to get 5-stars after barely completing all of the songs. The early sets aren't very bad, but the last set at Stonehenge is murderous (kind of like TGI Fridays).
This game just doesn't get old. Every time you raise the difficulty it's a brand new game. Even setting a new goal (5-stars versus just passing) on the same difficulty gives a new sense of accomplishment. The achievements are very well thought out. I'm looking forward to working on the coop achievements.
BTW, I discovered an option that let's you calibrate your lag. It guess it's meant for people with LCD monitors with slow refresh rates.
Had lots of fun tonight
Had lots of fun tonight co-oping GH2, glad I picked it up. Its pretty late now and i dont really want to quit playing, but I guess I should since i do have work in a few hours...Anyways, we need to do it again soon so i can get some co-op achievements.
Just made it to Stonehenge
Just made it to Stonehenge on expert. I expect it to be a lot of work to beat these last six songs. Psychobilly Freakout on expert was just...psycho. That 8-year old on youtube that earns five stars is a freak.
Well, I have officially sold
Well, I have officially sold myself to Guitar Hero 2. I was a denier for a long time, I held out as long as I could, but after I played the game at the Falwell's... it was all over. I went and bought the game last night... and I can't even play it at home until I get my 360 back. :)
Dammit, now I have to step
Dammit, now I have to step it up.
Don't worry, Mintz. I'm not
Don't worry, Mintz. I'm not getting anywhere fast at Stonehenge on expert. Beast and the Harlot is really long, and I usually fail about 35% through. The main riff is killer. I have to really concentrate just to physically move my thumb that fast on the strum bar. Remembering Hangar 18 on hard I'm almost afraid to even crank that one up.
Andy, I was in the same
Andy, I was in the same boat. After playing a demo I thought to myself "This is so much fun that I can't abstain just for reasons of being cool. Really, am I even cool at all anymore? Was I ever cool? Is life really worth living or should I..."
Beast and the Harlot is one
Beast and the Harlot is one of my favorites! Jonathan and I played that one quite a few times the other night.
who am i?
who am i??? (in high voice)
I'm still on the playlist
I'm still on the playlist just before Stonehenge, and I'm struggling... It doesn't help that I haven't played very much in the past month or two, either.
I need to take a break. The
I need to take a break. The middle joints of my left fingers are all sore to the touch. I haven't taken a full 3-4 day break to let them heal.
Mintz, I'm going nowhere fast at Stonehenge.
Why don't you just come over
Why don't you just come over and coop? I've got two guitars....
