Google Search Results

I'm consistently enamored with the ability of the adminz to get this website and my blog at the top of google's search results. Off the top of my head I did some google searches on frequently commented/visited topics on my blog. My blog is the #1 result for the string "chuck norris graffiti." It is the #3 result for "halo 3 spike grenade." It is on the front page for "xbox live router." Wow.

Someone at work yesterday said: "Hey EA. I googled "Alabama A-day game" this weekend and your hushed whatever was the third listing".

There's some really powerful things that could be done with this and other sites. It's a matter of more people stepping up to write original content. I won't expect that to happen though. I'm OK with how things are now. More traffic (or fame) isn't always better.

Do you think we should have a "Local" area on the forums page? It would be a great place for us to talk about local Huntsville building developments, AL football, Big Spring Jam, etc. We could even consolidate the "Outdoors" forum into it, or perhaps just change "Outdoors" to "Local"?

Just my 2 cents.

Not a bad idea. I think it would be a smart move.

I have had numerous times where a google search will lead me straight back here. It's always a shock. But to tell you the truth, I think some of the content we have here on the site is just about as good as some of the major sites.

Here's a brainstorm about the local topics. Maybe it would be cool to have a subdomain.. something like huntsville.hushedcasket.com

Of course, I like the way things are right now, and I'm not sure what benefits we would get for getting more popular than we already are.. but it would be pretty cool and I don't think it would really hurt things.
