You win. You can't get much better than that with a Mac.

3 terrabyte HD? I assume that's external?

Naa, probably racked internally, hopefully with some space between each drive, otherwise it's gonna get extremely hot in there. Now, did they actually buy you a release copy of the two CS3's? Or did they buy you vouchers or whatever, preorders, since Photoshop CS3 isn't supposed to be out of beta yet? Just curious because I'll be having to get it eventually as well. Been doing more and more video work instead of casting for eSTV lately.

Yes, internally. Its the max you can buy on the Apple website. CS3 is out like rapture said, so we just bought it with the company card.

that is way cool. you are part of the %.001 of people on this earth who will ever touch a system that good in the next 5 years. I bet if you checked the statistics, I'd probably not be far off.

so am i understanding correctly that there's 2 quad core processors for a total of 8 cores?

So which government are you planning to hack?

trigger, what kind of video work do you do? Also, do you have any experience with PC based editing software, i.e. Vegas or After Effects? I dabble a bit for eSTV, mostly because our normal video guy can't make it to events, just trying to get some pointers :).

Well I first started off making Halo videos with a Dazzle 90 on a crappy PC. I used great software like Pinnacle Studio. Then I made the switch to a mac. The sort of video editing I do at my current job would be things like Commercials, anything to do with company events, including slideshows/photos, among other things. My boss and I are creating content for a internal tv station of sorts for 17 plasma TV's. Most of my experience is and will be on a Mac, first and foremost. I actually have not used AE yet(I can't wait to start learning in less than 2 weeks), and never really used Vegas much at all. In all seriousness I still have a lot to learn, but I guess the same would be true of any college sophomore.

Actually, it probably wouldn't, not without an emulator :). Ya, Pinnacle Studio is an amazing piece of...work. If you need some help with AE, I've got some video tutorials I found that might be worth looking into. I'd've already hit them up, but with the whole real job thing I haven't had enough time to be able to do any more than a cursory glance.

But will it handle Crysis? Can it even? No, because it's a Mac. :D

Mintz's picture

All that power and he can't even play Ski-Free? What a shame. What a damn shame...

haha, yeah dirtyJ. I will remember that when I start learning AfterEffects. I'm looking forward to learning all sorts of new things about video editing this summer :-)
