Hang 'Em High and Derelict coming to HALO 2!

Submitted by THX SHYZZA on Fri, 03/30/2007 - 12:56pm.

Hang 'Em High now called Tombstone
The new Hang 'Em High is known as Tombstone

Remember the H2 maps anounced a while back? Well they are being released on April 17 and they are renditions of Derelict and Hang 'em High. $4 will get you both maps. I hope they're cool and work well with the H2 weapons. Now if only I could make a playlist to only play hang 'em with snipers.

Press release:

“Halo 2” Fans Prepare for Battle as Exclusive New Maps Expand the Most Popular Title on Xbox LIVE

Two of the most popular multiplayer maps from the original “Halo: Combat Evolved” will arrive as premium downloadable content for “Halo 2” in April.

REDMOND, Wash. — March 30, 2007 — Microsoft Game Studios and Bungie Studios today confirmed the upcoming release of two new, eagerly awaited downloadable maps for “Halo® 2.” The maps will be available as premium downloadable content for Xbox® and Xbox 360™ on April 17.

Fans of the original “Halo” have long requested the addition of some of their favorite maps to the critically acclaimed multiplayer experience of “Halo 2.” These re-creations, developed by Bungie and Certain Affinity Inc., are a perfect way to thank fans for their support as they surpass 800 million hours of “Halo 2” gaming on Xbox LIVE®.

The two maps will bring new life to ancient battlefields and legendary skirmishes, as both are new, improved and redesigned remakes of fan favorites from the original “Halo: Combat Evolved.” For the price of $4 for the pair, these maps bring a fresh burst of action to the seminal “Halo 2” online multiplayer experience. Both of the maps will be available through the “Halo 2” in-game content downloader for both Xbox and Xbox 360.*

The king of “Halo” maps has returned at last. Hang ’Em High, arguably the most popular multiplayer map for the original title, has been reimagined for “Halo 2” as Tombstone, with all-new graphics, features and a few hidden surprises. Now fans will enjoy the dangerous catwalks and trenches that made this the most requested “Halo” multiplayer map ever, with a modernized “Halo 2” flavor.

The second map, Desolation, is a symmetrical, Deathmatch-oriented map and a beautiful remake of the original Derelict. With new graphics and effects and a massive gameplay overhaul, the old favorite is now faster-paced and more balanced than ever — perfect for intense “Halo 2” combat.

“Halo 2” is the sequel to the highly successful and critically acclaimed “Halo: Combat Evolved” and represents the second chapter in the epic “Halo” trilogy. Since its launch in fall 2004, “Halo 2” has maintained its place as the most popular Xbox LIVE title ever. To date, gamers have logged more than 800 million hours of “Halo” multiplayer action on Xbox LIVE, and they are eagerly awaiting “Halo 3,” slated for release this fall. The “Halo” franchise is among the biggest worldwide entertainment properties in history and continues to change the way people think about interactive entertainment.

1. I'm missing all of my

1. I'm missing all of my HALO software. Someone's got a HALO 1 disc with my name on it. Someone's got my HALO 2 software also.

2. Hang 'Em High! Woot! I hope this map appears in the Vista version of HALO 2. The Vista version is getting new maps. Perhaps this will be one of them (although it will be "old" by the time the Vista version is released). Bungie had to release a popular map to make some noise. I think they've done that.

3. I'm really amazed at how transformed HEH is now. It looks totally different, yet I can see how the map is still laid out.

4. I have a feeling that MLG encouraged Bungie to release these maps for the next season...to give MLG something new to play...since they've been playing HALO 2 for, what, 3 years? So old.

H2 Vista, Halo PC, and H2

Even if this is H2, it's given me a renewed enthusiasm for the H3 Beta coming soon. Those maps look fantastic. Thanks Shyzza.

On the H2Vista subject. There's something I've been wondering for a while. Considering the backlash against H2 for the xbox by a good number of people. Will H2Vista become as popular as Halo PC did? I for one, have wondered this because I have been considering getting it, but don't know if I want to re-invest the time I put into H2. Will there be significant changes to the game that will separate it fully from H2 on the Xbox. It's just an open question for anyone who might have an opinion.

Speaking of new maps...

I have recently received my latest issue of PC Gamer Magazine, and I have some news. On the thirty-first page, there is an advertisement of a battle reflecting off of Master Chief's visor, saying:

BECAUSE THE FATE OF ALL MANKIND IS TOO GREAT TO BE DECIDED ON A CONSOLE ALONE

At the bottom was the standard MSGS logo, Bungielogo, GFW Live brand, and ESRB rating. At the bottom left were three small pictures of Halo 2 Vista, and some pictures of two maps I have never seen before. Above those pictures was shown:

HALO 2

Halo© 2 for the PC is here. Two all-new exclusive maps. 23 in total.
And a Map Editor to create even more. Only on Windows Vista™.

I've looked on Microsoft and Bungie's website and nowhere do they confirm this advertisement of having two new exclusive maps for Halo 2 Vista.

I'm kind of upset over Bungie's poor support towards us PC gamers regarding the Halo series. I found this advertisement on my own, and I've told many people about it. But Bungie didn't bother to tell us at all? What the hell?

wewt. Hopefully HEH isn't as

wewt. Hopefully HEH isn't as broken as Bungie claimed it was for Halo 2's gameplay.

As far as that ad goes, MasterKim, I'm assuming the two new maps are the ones announced today.

Not sure how excited I

Not sure how excited I should be about this. HGH and Derelict are two of my favorites. Really glad to see Bungie show some love there. However, I haven't played H2 since October, and I don't really care to play it now at all. Wish the news was that they're coming to H3.

The new "exclusive" maps

The new "exclusive" maps have been mentioned before. I did a search on my H2V website and got the following link: http://halo2pc.org/search/node/exclusive

One thing is for sure. Bungie isn't releasing much H2V info.

H2V will be more popular

H2V will be more popular than HPC because more users have played H2. HPC was new to a lot of gamers. A lot of HPC gamers are looking forward to H2V. So are a lot of XBOX players.

(Fun fact: When H2 XBOX was released, sales for HPC when WAY up)

The only reason that I will be wrong is if gamers don't have Vista. But, most all of the PC gamers I know have Vista or will be getting it soon.

I don't think there will be THAT many changes that are going to affect gameplay. At least, from the info I've read, there isn't going to be major changes to the gameplay.

Client side physics should change. H2V supports dedicated servers so all users are clients and no one is the host when connecting to a dedi.

But they said "all-new exclusive maps," which wouldn't really be exclusive for the PC if they were on the Xbox as well.

If they were brand-new,

If they were brand-new, never-before-seen maps, that'd be a best-case scenario.
