Major Microsoft news Tues and Wed night

Microsoft will make two major announcements tonight (Tuesday) and Wednesday night at 11PM CST. These announcements are supposed to be the biggest announcements since CES. The announcements will be in the form of video at on10.net a Microsoft nerdie hangout.

The announcements may or may not be related to gaming or the XBOX platform. However, XBOX Live was down for maintenance today. Was the maintenance related to one or both of these announcements?

Is the HALO 3 beta related to the XBOX Live maintenance and/or these announcements?

For the record, I think we'll be getting HALO 3 beta news on April 1 which is when Bungie does something with their "Pimps at Sea" title. "Pimps at Sea alpha" is the code name for the HALO 3 alpha build on XBOX Live.

I'd like to see an announcement about the XBOX 360 Elite and the HALO 3 beta.

I'd really like Microsoft to make announcement saying that the Zune and Windows Media Center would no longer suck.

GTA IV

There is a countdown to the first GTA IV Trailer over at xbox.com.

It ends tomorrow (March 29) at 6:00 p.m. EDT. I haven't heard about this before. I still kinda doubt this is what the second announcement is. It would be kinda anti-climactic if they pre-announced their announcement.

Thats the rumor that is being spread anyways. Somehow microsoft may have struck a deal with take 2 on which systems it will be distributed on.

There is "exclusive" content

There is "exclusive" content coming to XBL for GTA IV. They haven't really said what that is so. Who knows, could be something really stupid, or maybe not. However, the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 version are launching at the same date in October.

I forgot it was episodic content. Here is straight from Wikipedia.

"During Microsoft's 2006 E³ press conference on May 9, it was announced that Grand Theft Auto IV would be available for the Xbox 360 and that Rockstar will offer exclusive episodic content via Xbox Live for the Xbox 360 version. This had been confirmed by Rockstar, announcing two extra, exclusive episodes[6]. After the press conference, Rockstar Games' parent company, Take-Two Interactive, posted a press release announcing Grand Theft Auto IV will be released simultaneously for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms. On February 28, 2007 it was announced that exclusive episodic content will be introduced starting in 2008.[7]"
