The Hushed Casket was founded in 2002 shortly after the launch of the XBOX console. Today the Hushed Casket is a thriving community of gamers, playing together and publishing news and stories that have appeared in major media properties like Newsweek, G4TV, USA Today, and Penny Arcade. Some game developers have even referenced our guides and news to support their gamers. We don't play Halo. We LAN Halo.

The next XBOX 360 is due out in April will be called "Elite". It will be all black (including accessories) have a 120GB hard drive, and an HDMI video output. It won't have an HD-DVD drive. It should cost about $480. The black version will be a limited edition. The Elite will be found in the white color scheme after the limited edition is sold out.

I would rather just buy a 120 gig HDD.
Unless I'm mistaken, this
Unless I'm mistaken, this version also takes advantage of a physically smaller CPU meaning it will generate less heat and run quieter/cooler. I've been waiting on the rumored HDMI version for a while. Definitely in for a black one.
WOW!
Looks sweet! I'd buy it just for the black color.
Interesting...
Does anybody else see a racial pretense underneath all this? It's black and it's got a larger hard drive.
I'm joking, of course. But keep in mind that this is a rumor. I want to wait for official confirmation from Microsoft themselves.
just kidding
Heh, we all know what's on your mind...
I was merely jesting.
However, I'm not going to take this seriously until Microsoft announces it.
It's the internet, and therefore any information released on it must be true, right?
Elite 360 next week?
Kotaku is reporting that details on the new system will be revealed next week by Microsoft. You'll be able to buy it sometime in April.
IPTV functionality will be in the system. However, I think this will only work with AT&T. :/ :)

IPTV sounds intriguing. A
IPTV sounds intriguing. A quick google did not reveal any detailed info other than it will bring you "live video streams." Will I be able to tune a limited number of channels with this? Any chance of it taking the place of my cable subscription (which I am considering ditching for OTAHD anyway).
I don't think many people
I don't think many people (in the world) will be able to use the XBOX 360's IPTV feature. Only a few cities use "Microsoft TV" technology to deliver TV. No provider in Huntsville does. There's no way to connect to Comcast, Knology, or other providers via the internet for TV.
IPTV sounds great. It will free up a lot of bandwidth because you'll only be streaming the show you are watching.
But, it won't be free. You'll have to pay for a service from someone. If IPTV comes to Huntsville, it will probably be through BellSouth in which you'll pay a monthly fee to access their network. (I'm taking a guess that BellSouth would like a share of the TV market and has the network to do it.)
If you've got one of these providers, then you can likely use the XBOX 360 for IPTV:
AT&T
Beijing Netcom
Bell Canada
BT
Club Internet/T-Online France
Deutsche Telekom
Magyar TeleKom
Reliance Infocomm
Singtel
Slovak Telekom
Swisscom
Telecom Italia
Telecom South Africa
WIND
Ya.com
Looks like some ATT customers might get to check it out. It would be cool to use the 360 as a DVR device.
Marketing Strategy?
Of course, IPTV will be useless with our current 360s and the skimpy 20 gig HDDs.
