I remember when I initially tried to sign up for the Shadowrun beta many moons ago I had to get my parents to fax a permission form. I decided it wasn't worth it.

My mommy got mad at me one time when the computer did a fatality in Mortal Combat. She saw the blood and told me never to enter the blood code "A-B-A-C-A-B-B" again into my sega genesis. I guess the shadowrun people just want to avoid having other people's mommies get mad as well.

I just think it's ridiculous that I can legally buy an M-rated game, yet I can't play a beta of one without parental permission.

jayWHY and Oc should get a beta invite from Microsoft on Thursday or Friday of this week. A FASA dev told me he put your names in the system. You'll be part of the next 1000 people getting in. About 1000 ppl per week are getting invited. Unsure how long that or the beta will last.

The rest of you will get on my list. I'll get you in as soon as I can. I can't make any promises, of course and there are several people ahead of you on my list.

Is it possible to register now and get in line or am I totally SOL if I didn't register months ago?

Register now! Word is that theres a whole lot of beta testers getting in every thurstday.

If your Microsoft Connect account shows you as registered, then you are in. If you are in to the Connect program, them I might be able to get you into the beta.

I think I'm in the Connect program. I go to http://connect.microsoft.com and I can sign in with my passport. I can select from a list of beta programs I want to join, as well. So if you're able to invite me, please do :)

If Connect doesn't tell you that you've app'd for the beta then you aren't going to get invited through me.

So I take it the answer is "SOL if you haven't registered already." However, I didn't even know about the MS connect site, so I'm gonna keep an eye on it from now on.

Accepted the terms of use and then went to the page to enter my address and such. Hitting "register" on that page gives an unexpected error. Will try again later.

synide is a lucky dog. He'll have a bot named after him in Shadowrun. He won a random tester drawing this week. Of course, he could name it rapture.

Pretty cool, besides having his name cemented in the Shadowrun series for probably forever, he gets to have numerous people pwn his bot and claim they beat him.

I don't think there's ever a chance to pwn synide, bot or otherwise.
