The Hushed Casket was founded in 2002 shortly after the launch of the XBOX console. Today the Hushed Casket is a thriving community of gamers, playing together and publishing news and stories that have appeared in major media properties like Newsweek, G4TV, USA Today, and Penny Arcade. Some game developers have even referenced our guides and news to support their gamers. We don't play Halo. We LAN Halo.
HALO 2 for Windows Vista will be launched on May 8th. This is according to tons of new reports that were released early this morning. The Games for Windows - Live service will also be launched at that time in the US.

I've begun building my new gaming system. I've decided to hold out for the new ATi DX10 cards that were supposed to be out this month. While DX10 isn't required for HALO 2 for Vista, I want one of those cards any way. The released date of those cards is expected to be sometime in April. Those cards were supposed to be released before Vista. Here's hoping for an April release of the R600 cards and that they don't get pushed back any further.

Ohh I'm sooo excited. BTW
Ohh I'm sooo excited.
BTW for the R600 you'll need a pair of these.

I am interested to see what
I am interested to see what a high-end gaming rig can do with Halo 2. Halo PC certainly looked good. I'm not interested in spending my $$ on it, but I'd like to see.
I don't think the content
I don't think the content will look any better than H2 for XBOX. The higher resolution graphics will be great, but not all of the textures are upscaled. So, there will some "sweet spots" as to where the graphics will look good. For the most part, I don't think they'll be that much better.
As for the "sweet spot", think of the Blue Screen of Death computer screen in Zanzibar inside the base. From the right distance, the texture of the BSOD looks good. But up close or too far away, it looks bad.
Now imagine playing at 1600 x 1200 or higher with XBOX-quality texture maps. It could be like watching SDTV on an HDTV.
H2V is only DX9. DX10 games, though, will make even GoW look last-gen. I can't wait for that. That's one reason why I want my next GPU to be DX10 capable.
Hellz yeah.
Now I know exactly what time I'll need to upgrade. Huzzah!
Once I build my new PC I'll probably leave my 360 to collect dust.
Video Cards Vista H2
I remember when 64MB video cards were the shiz. When the 128MB cards came out, I heard people say to me that there will not be much of a need for more video memory than that. Now at like 700MB it's looking like 1G is going to be the bar for a while. The Unreal 3 engine (GoW) on the 360 is probably using some hybrid graphics drivers similar to parts of dx10 and dx9. I'm curious what unreal tournament 3 is going to do, and whether it will use dx10, then we'll get to see some cool stuff. Hopefully dx10 isn't just a bunch of graphical improvements, it might also offer some performance improvements that allow for much better framerates than the dx9 games. I'm just waiting for which game is going to force me to buy Vista first though.
