The Hushed Casket was founded in 2002 shortly after the launch of the XBOX console. Today the Hushed Casket is a thriving community of gamers, playing together and publishing news and stories that have appeared in major media properties like Newsweek, G4TV, USA Today, and Penny Arcade. Some game developers have even referenced our guides and news to support their gamers. We don't play Halo. We LAN Halo.

"We've teamed up with Ziff-Davis, the publishers behind Games for Windows: TOM, to give away 25,000 free 1-year subscriptions (to US readers only ... sorry!). How free? You won't need to provide your credit card information; your subscription won't be automatically renewed at the end of the year; and you will need to "opt-in" to renew your subscription before receiving any bill for the magazine. Free."
Appears to be hitch free. No credit card info. Not automatically renewed at end of the 12 months. I think it's legit.

Hellz yay!

TMFKACGW
The Magazine Formerly Known As Computer Gaming World, for those who don't know :)
I've been freely subscribed to this magazine for about five months now, and I really love this magazine. I was going to pay for a renewal, but now I'm glad I dont' have to :)
Even though I don't own a computer that can play any new computer games, I enjoy reading the articles that cover the game industry in general, and there are plenty of cross-platform games whose info applies to the Xbox360 as well.
Yes, me too.
I would liked to have payed for a subscription to GFWTOM AKA TMFKACGW, but I already pay that for PC Gamer. But now, I can subscribe to both!
That is massive win.
EGM
I remember having a subscription to EGM a long long time ago. Good stuff.
I subscribe to EGM.
But I do love seeing PC Gamer in the mailbox every month. It's a wonderful indulgence as I shake with ecstasy when I remove the magazine from its plastic sleeve.
I also have a subscription
I also have a subscription to EGM. Two years for twenty dollars? Can't do much wrong there.
OXM is a piece of crap. I never liked the ignorance and writing style of the staff. I used to subscribe to them for their Demo Disc, but I don't even need that anymore with XBLM.
OXM? Ugh...
Also, I totally disagree their rating system. No game is ever perfect, but they award some games perfect scores. "But 10/10 isn't a perfect score, 11/10 is, and we'll never award those." What a load of bullsheet. Ten out of ten is 100%, hence, 100% score, perfect. 100/100. If you want to break the laws of math, go ahead. I won't subscribe to your magazine.
On a sidenote, yes, I do know that EGM rates some games ten out of ten as well, but I actually don't mind it that much because at least they have a decent staff.
I like OXM, to be honest, but it's extremely flawed in some perspectives. I would have so much to argue with them if I ever had the chance to meet them.
Still, I like getting the demo disks sometimes. Frostcrag Spire and the Thieves' Den for free? I'd hit that.
Even though EGM awards
Even though EGM awards 10/10's, their scale admits it isn't perfect. They say "... a 10 does not mean a game is perfect, but rather it's the best score we can give."
Hellz yeah.
Turns out this offer was legitimate after all. I just received my first issue of TMFKACGW/TOM:GFW in the mail today!
