We want your HALO 3 screenshots here. Add yours.
The Hushed Casket was founded in 2002 shortly after the launch of the XBOX console. Today the Hushed Casket is a thriving community of gamers, playing together and publishing news and stories that have appeared in major media properties like Newsweek, G4TV, USA Today, and Penny Arcade. Some game developers have even referenced our guides and news to support their gamers. We don't play Halo. We LAN Halo.
This audio-less and anti-climatic video gives a brief glimpse of some of the weapons in Halo 3 (alpha build). The MA5C assault rifle is here, replacing the MA5B, and has a slower rate of fire, presumably at the benefit of more damage per round. The M6D pistol is also back (from Halo 1) with fewer rounds available per magazine. We also get a glimpse at the new ATV, the Mongoose. Check out the video after the break.

Just because the M6D is in
Just because the M6D is in there doesn't mean 3-shotties are possible, unfortunately.
4-shots were possible with
4-shots were possible with the BR, but the rate of fire was too slow. Are 4-shots possible, and if so, what's the rate of fire like?
Was that HALO 3 or Call of
Was that HALO 3 or Call of Duty 3? I couldn't tell.
I'd imagine the BR would be
I'd imagine the BR would be about the same, seeing as how Bungie didn't want another Halo 1 pistol in Halo 2 so bad they took the time to balance the BR as best they could.
I know the video is of
I know the video is of really bad quality, but the visuals so far I have seen arent up to snuff with Gears of War or a few other games. Opinions? I know its still early so dont hammer me, I want halo 3 to be the best looking game ever...but at the same time Im a little worried.
Not counting the fact that
Not counting the fact that it's a grainy shaky-cam vid, but I'll bet more next-gen games will be more like Crackdown as time goes on; it doesn't look good in screenshots/non-high quality video, but it's glorious in motion.
Sorry, I wasn't clear. I
Sorry, I wasn't clear. I meant to ask if 4-shots are possible with the pistol.
I think it looks good
I think it looks good enough. I think gameplay can make up for the rest.
I'll take it
I wonder if the expansive levels have anything to do with the lack of geometry there seems to be in the maps. Take Gears for example, almost all of those levels are small in comparison to what I've seen of halo 3. I think we will probably see very detailed textures and less geometry in h3
Ain't Ready Yet
Let's not forget that the game isn't even done yet.
H3 will look good...not great
HALO 3 will look good, not great. If you are expecting anything more, then you are setting yourself up for disappointment. I don't expect it to look better than GoW or even PGR3. Bungie doesn't make games to revolutionize the graphical standard of games.
HALO and HALO 2 weren't the best looking games on the XBOX. But they played well. And that's where Bungie invests more of their resources. HALO 3 will be about social gaming, a slick user interface, new vehicles, new weapons, and new gameplay experience.
True. On an aside, GoW may
True.
On an aside, GoW may very well be the unbeatable nemesis of every console game graphic designer for the next 1-1.5 years. Until something beats it every single 360 and PS3 game is going to be compared to GoW in the graphics department.
I thought Halo 2 was one of
I thought Halo 2 was one of the best looking games that came out for the xbox. So I am hoping H3 does the same for 360.
H2 was released Nov 2004, a
H2 was released Nov 2004, a full three years after the original Xbox was released. H3 is being released (we think) Nov 2007, two years after the 360's launch. The best looking games always come at the end of a platform's cycle, after all the efficiency and programming tricks are figured out. H3 will benefit from two years of development, but not three as H2 did.
