Be undead

The Hushed Casket was founded in 2002 shortly after the launch of the XBOX console. Today the Hushed Casket is a thriving community of gamers, playing together and publishing news and stories that have appeared in major media properties like Newsweek, G4TV, USA Today, and Penny Arcade. Some game developers have even referenced our guides and news to support their gamers. We don't play Halo. We LAN Halo.

Digg Traffic

thx on digg

Well, thanks to rapture, we have been getting a lot of love over the past 24hours. I bet he didn't know what he was going to unleash when he took his camera phone and snapped this innocent photo of the ordering panel at one of the local BKs. Well, the Diggers picked it up and ran with it. We made the front page! I know a few of us are quite excited because we're frequent diggers as well. Well, people seem to like slightly blurry photos of Burger King because we got some action from Kotaku, ArsTechnica, the Wired Blog and Destructoid plastered us to their front page as well. Wow. All there is to say is wow.

The site went down Friday afternoon and rapture and I spent most of the rest of the night scrambling to get it back up. We were throttling down different aspects of the site and finally our host let us back online.

For all the newcomers, welcome to THX!

Really cool that we made the front page of digg.

Thanks to Oculus for taking the lead on getting the site back up while I was away at dinner on Friday. It wasn't easy.

Noticed that a few more people linked in, including a wired.com/blog.

By the way

By the way, we're at 559 diggs so far! Seeing the site down was painful.. but a good pain I'd say.

@ Midnight: having friends

@ Midnight: having friends will help jump start the digg. For instance, I've submitted breaking news before anyone else, but because other people that submitted the news later had friends that actively dugg friends' content, their stories got to the front page. As Mintz suggests, nothing gets to the front page if the digg culture doesn't want it there. So, content is key. Friends help. That's why certain small communities can occasionally make the front page of digg. The same dozen or so friends digg at the same time, making a story seem popular.

Holy cow. 60.15% percent of all visitors in the last few days saw this site using Firefox. We're doing about 88,000 hits per day. 29.60% of the site visitors use IE. 7% use Safari. 85.79% have a high-speed internet connection.

Twas an interesting story.
