We want your HALO 3 screenshots here. Add yours.
The Hushed Casket was founded in 2002 shortly after the launch of the XBOX console. Today the Hushed Casket is a thriving community of gamers, playing together and publishing news and stories that have appeared in major media properties like Newsweek, G4TV, USA Today, and Penny Arcade. Some game developers have even referenced our guides and news to support their gamers. We don't play Halo. We LAN Halo.
Just how close are FASA Studios and Bungie Studios? There should be some obvious connections since they are both working at Microsoft Game Studios. After searching through some screenshots of Shadowrun over at Gamespot, I noticed a familiar grin smiling back at me. It looks like the minigun in Shadowrun has a similar (perhaps the same) texture that's found on the flamethrower in HALO PC. Notice the same curves outlining the mouth on both weapons. The flamethrower made its first public appearance in Gearbox's port of HALO. However, the flamethrower was actually in the original HALO code on the XBOX title. Was this texture there? Wasn't there an old minigun in an alpha build of HALO and didn't it look a lot like Shadowrun's minigun?
That grinning texture also appears on older and even modern military aircraft. But is that texture homage to Bungie?
How far does the connection go? Is the "FASA engine" a modified HALO engine? Hmm. (a stretch)
Shadowrun is currently in a beta testing phase and is expected to launch later this year.
Check out the Shadowrun minigun and HALO PC flamethrower:

Interesting. I don't have
Interesting. I don't have any experience with the Halo PC flamethrower, but from those screencaps I'd say there is definitely something afoot.
a homage to bungie, perhaps?
a homage to bungie, perhaps?
I'd say there is no
I'd say there is no coincidence. The Halo PC, and Xbox, for that matter, flamethrower was extremely distinctive. There's no doubt in my mind that this is a Bungie homage.
Wasn't there a minigun that
Wasn't there a minigun that looked almost exactly like that in one of the first Halo screenshots?
You mean THIS minigun?
Original Halo: Combat Evovled Minigun
Kind if the same, though to tell you the truth, it reminds me more of the Warthog turret, just hand-held.
Nice Point!
But idk if i would call it a modified HALO engine....just because there is a face that looks the same.
spark
Is it just me, or does the exploding mountain thing in the backgroung look a bit like 343 guilty spark, too?
i think...
really, i'm pretty sure both are just homages to the classic WWII fighter planes that had tigers painted on, in the pacific front.
i think any coincidence with bungie is probably accidental.

Windsailor, that had crossed
Windsailor, that had crossed my mind as well.
Frankly, I am leaning
Frankly, I am leaning towards Windsailor's explaination. I just don't think the similarities are quite strong enough to imply an homage, given the historical background surrounding the painting.
Is it just me.
Is it just me, or does anyone else think it's pretty Bad-A__ that Uncle Sam let us put this on our planes?
It's not just you.
It's not just you.
Twice in a video game in 5
Twice in a video game in 5 years is still a lot of coincidence.
There's more I'd like to
There's more I'd like to say, but alas I'm under NDA...
Lots of halo CE mods
Lots of halo CE mods (notably the CMT campaign) have a minigun that is modelled on the original flamethrower - they look almost exactly like the ShadowRun minigun.
With both that similarity and the picture, I'd say that someone on the ShadowRun team plays halo ce.
Now
tell me, that When I find some secret combo Shadowrun FPS will change into great cRPG...
Not to mention the mountain
Not to mention the mountain looks like the ring and cloud with the blue light looks like 343 guilty spark.
