I always assumed the beta would be out around the same time Crackdown came out. I guess I was wrong, because once you have the code, you can "participate in the coveted Halo 3 multiplayer beta program when it becomes available."

I'm guessing the beta will go live on April 1. The alpha build is codenamed "Pimps at Sea" and April 1 is the day that Bungie goes all out with PAS.

I got two emails. One said that I would be notified in the next two days if I was in. A few minutes later I got the email below.

Phase one registration is now closed. If you have been selected to participate, you will receive an email notification within the next two days.

For those of you that didn't make it in - fret not as this phase one was just the first of three ways to secure entry into the Halo 3 multiplayer public beta. The next two paths of entry are:

* Qualifying over Xbox Live® via the "Rule of Three" program in early February
* Purchasing marked packages of the upcoming game CrackdownTM, which hits store shelves in North America on Feb. 20

Just got two emails. One of them told me that I'd get an email in the next two days letting me know if I'm in or not. The other one was this.

"Your invitation is non-transferable and cannot be redeemed for cash."

I guess that means you can't sell your code on eBay. Whatever code they give us must be tied to our gamertags. I doubt the Crackdown ones will be, though...

Yep. I got that email just before I got the invite email.

So far, I've got messages from about dozen friends saying they got in. Maybe some THX'ers will get invites soon.

is this the new formula? Has Bungie found a way to have a double release of their games, creating all of the publicity twice?

As it stands without the invite, Halo 3, altogether will cost $160.00 because of Crackdown and the Legendary Edition. Now if the Zephyr 360 is released anytime during this, there's another $400 or so, so we are looking at a grand total of $560.00. Oh well, I guess technology really is a subscription.

Just a quick question regarding the Halo 3 Beta. Back in January I was invited to participate in the Beta through an e-mail. I have not had heard anything else and the Beta is released tomorrow. Does anyone know anthing about this or did I miss an email with the code to play the Beta?

MS hasn't sent out that email to those kind of users that were selected through that program.

That email is expected to be sent out tomorrow (Wed) morning at the earliest.

Thanks for the info, I was hoping I did not miss anything and I would get the e-mail tomorrow. I will be able to sleep tonight (my son is excited as well) with the anticipation of playing the beta tomorrow.
