The Hushed Casket was founded in 2002 shortly after the launch of the XBOX console. Today the Hushed Casket is a thriving community of gamers, playing together and publishing news and stories that have appeared in major media properties like Newsweek, G4TV, USA Today, and Penny Arcade. Some game developers have even referenced our guides and news to support their gamers. We don't play Halo. We LAN Halo.
Evidently this is what the MLG team tonight was talking about. Seems that it would be helpful if it's in fact legal. Don't know if I would risk it though.
This leads me to want to try it out on a few practice rounds and see if they had an advantage by using it... Take for instance, if you can slide when hitting 'X' and 'A' when you pick up a weapon, then what keeps them from sliding when they revive their teammates... I need to look into this some more... I'll post later.
I'll say this.. remember gridlock when they kept grabbing the boomer so fast.. this would explain that if it's a valid glitch.

Ok, I've tested this
Ok, I've tested this out in a practice match and it is confirmed. It is an advantage that keeps you mobile instead of standing still when you pick up a weapon/ammo. You end up sliding off of the weapon in the direction that your holding the left joystick. Whether or not it's legal I don't know. I looked at the MLG rules and didn't see it. If a team was using it against us, it's hard to prove, and it's also a small, but existing advantage. We need to try it out with the revives.
weapon slide
Btw i can confirm your question about revive, you can moving revive, moving curbstomp, ammo, and weapons, anything involving the x button, also theres some illegal manuevers such as the chainsaw glitch, which is the same principle. When you swat turn around cover with your lancer out, do a and B and hold down a and run into an enemy, they explode, but if you take fire it does NOT work.
Also a pretty tight execution is to do a moving curbstomp glitch while spinning and shooting of ur pistol for a wild west effect.
This is why I don't like
This is why I don't like glitches, period.
Mintz, I understand your
Mintz, I understand your position. It kind of relates to the people who complain about using this or that weapon to kill (noob combo in H2, grenade tagging in GoW). The only way to have one standard set of agreed-upon rules is to use everything available in the game. Just because so-and-so doesn't think it's "honorable" to kill people with grenade tags, what does that mean for everyone else I play against that uses them? I have to do the best I possibly can, which means using every option of the gameplay. The same goes for glitches. Who is going to decide which ones are kosher for use and which ones aren't? How do you enfore this rule? It would be better if they weren't in the game, because their very existence means I either need to learn to use them or get pwned by those that do.
Glitch Griefing
Exactly. They're not supposed to be in the game, thus they shouldn't be used. Of course, there's no way to enforce this, so it's up to the developers to release a patch. Unfortunately, the glitches will continue to be exploited in the meantime.
So would you super bounce in
So would you super bounce in H2 to get out of the map to win a game?
Playing on the same set of rules really can't be done with random people. That's why a community of like-minded gamers is good. You all will establish a culture that will be followed.
I won't do things that are
I won't do things that are blatantly unsportsmanlike. I'll just not play. I'll super bounce to get on top of the roof in Zanzibar, but I am not good enough at it to do it anywhere else. I stopped playing H2 routinely because of all the cheating, which shows that sometimes I will choose to not play rather than have to resort to glitching/cheating.
I do the weapon slide and revive slide glitch in GoW, but I don't care enough about the chainsaw glitch to learn to do it, or shooting while roadie-running. I consider shooting while roadie-running unsportsmanlike.
However, this is my personal standard, and I have no moral high ground to enforce it on anyone else. As you mentioned, this is why community is so important: gaming with like-minded people.
Glitches are bad, mkay?
As some of you have already stated, nobody should learn how to do glitches just to become even with your opponents. I'll do the weapon slide along with a number of other glitches as well, but I'll never fire while roadie-running or use the chainsaw glitch.
The difference between them is that most of these glitches are about helping you rather than antagonizing your opponent. If I'm in Gridlock and someone's about to blast me apart as I pick up the sniper rifle, I'm going to slide my way out of there. It doesn't really harm my opponent, and it really isn't that unsportsmanlike in my opinion. Also, it's not that hard to figure out how to do yourself--many players find out how to do the sliding glitches by coincidence.
But if I use exploit the chainsaw glitch, how will my opponents fare? Most likely, they won't notice your using the glitch to begin with. Imagine their shock when they suddenly explode as blood starts coming out of your chainsaw as it weaves through air. It's cheap, disorienting, and it's specifically used for offensive purposes rather than evasive maneuvers, like the weapon slide. Plus, it's not as easy to learn, but once it is learned, is easy to do.
It's a shame these bugs are in the game to begin with.
Glitches
I agree how frustrating the deal with who gets to decide the kosher glitches and who doesn't. I know all the glitches but the chainsaw and can get out of like most of the maps in halo 2 but i try not to use them.
I'm pretty sure the higher levels agree on one of two sets of rules about glitching, at least in GoW
1) Cold Turkey: absolutely no glitching and tagging is severely frowned upon, its more natural for them to be thrown.
2) Moving weapon glitch, and no tagging..
but tagging is almost always frowned upon, but still used by people, the chainsaw glitch is rarely used for kills because u can stop it so easily (one shot unrevs the invisible rev), and its mostly used as a rude gesture. The roadie running glitch is unquestionable cheating, as well as getting off the map.
Some people disagree with weapon slide glitching with certain weapons on certain maps (i.e. boom at gridlock, you can go around the corner and avoid fire)...
I think its bad to do it to avoid death, just for convenience... or if the other team is glitching and wont stop after you ask nicely.
Master Kim, i disagree with your chainsaw glitch opinion, it is cheap, but once you find out there is a glitcher on the other team, adjust your play and plan to be accurate with your shots. Just one shot them and let them run at you like an idiot while you prepare to destroy them.
dont play?
I think epic did a magnificent job of making skill prevalent, you can beat glitchers of any severity if your good enough. Usually you'll run into a glitch or two per game but the you ask them to stop, kill them the next time they do it, and if they keep doing it to win, find that guy and specifically chainsaw glitch him (i.e. virtual bitch slap)...
BTW in case your interested midnight the chainsaw glitch is really really easy... you do the swat turn (forward +a) from cover and press B immediately during/after (one of the two) and the chainsaw with vibrate your control a little then become unnoticable, it will seem like a normal roadie run, but if you run into someone it will trigger the glitch... be careful though because if you get shot it unrevs it and ur just running.
suspicious
haha i know too much about the glitches....
When do you guys get on gears... i wanna play sometime, im doing a lot of players now because i kinda just finished with the whole ranked deal... so yea just contact me or reply on this chain when you play or something... my gt is vulcan398, go figure...
Oh, really?
