We want your HALO 3 screenshots here. Add yours.
The Hushed Casket was founded in 2002 shortly after the launch of the XBOX console. Today the Hushed Casket is a thriving community of gamers, playing together and publishing news and stories that have appeared in major media properties like Newsweek, G4TV, USA Today, and Penny Arcade. Some game developers have even referenced our guides and news to support their gamers. We don't play Halo. We LAN Halo.
The Hushed Casket is participating in the first ever Major League Gaming Gears of War (GoW) Tournament. Visit the THX.com frontpage (hushedcasket.com) for details on other THX events including participation in Major League Gaming and Team Warfare League tournaments.
Myself, FoulBreed, Sparda, and Oculus are registered for the GoW tournament at MLG. It looks like they opened up registration to a total of 160 teams instead of the original 80, and all 160 slots are full, with one team on the waiting list to get in. Our "group play" starts this week with the following schedule. All games are from 8-9 PM CST.
Tuesday, January 9:
Canals
Clocktower

Thursday, January 11:
Fuel Depot
Gridlock
War Machine

The schedule of whom we're playing isn't posted yet. I will update this thread as soon as it is. One small issue is that the first two matches occur while I'm here in Huntsville. That means I'll need to come to someone's house and commander a 360 and a TV for an hour on Tuesday and Thursday night. FoulBreed, I know you have two setups at your place. Can you host me? I am a little concerned about two boxes fighting for the same meager bandwidth, but we'll get it done either way. I need to make sure I can recover my account at the LAN today.
All participants please follow this link and read the tournament rules.

The Basics:
Tourney is pretty straight-forward, and similar to TWL. Home team plays COG and hosts two maps. Away team plays locust and hosts the map of their choice from the list of three. Away team hosts the first match. We play group play for points for three weeks. Win = 3, Tie = 1, Loss = 0. At the end of the 5 group rounds the top two teams from each group (by the points) move onto bracket play. Bracket play proceeds like a normal tournament.
Read the rules and then hit me with questions if something seems strange. I like the structure, because the group play is a little more forgiving than a tourney bracket. I don't think the top teams in each group will be undefeated, speaking generally.
Looking forward to this tournament, guys. We have done well against some other organized teams, and I don't think we'll be a pushover. My goal is to make it to bracket play. If we achieve that we'll take it one game at a time from there. Good luck, THX.

It's Monday night. Our
It's Monday night. Our first match is Tuesday night. I'd really like it if MLG would post the group divisions and let me know who we're playing in 24 hours.
i should be on tonight
i should be on tonight around 600 to get some practice in before the match, will you guys be able to do the same. Midnight have you found a place to play?
This is just my opinion on the matter and should be taken as such
Last I heard, he was coming
Last I heard, he was coming to my place at 7:00. I can be on before that probably. I want to play around with the patch in effect.
More importantly, MLG has still not posted any kind of schedule or even posted groups.
I would bet there's a good
I would bet there's a good chance that this week's matches will get postponed for at least one week while MLG admins figure out how the new patch (which you'll all be forced to install) will affect their tournament and the players.
Q: When is the GameStop
Q: When is the GameStop Gears of War 4v4 Kickoff A online tournament going to start?
A: The first Gears of War online tournament has been delayed two days. It is currently set to begin Thursday, January 11.
Found in a thread on MLG about the tourney here:

This reminds me of the fiasco behind the Halo 2 gameplay update back in the early days.
I just listened to a neat
I just listened to a neat podcast from some MLG tournament admins about this game. It doesn't reveal too much but it might give you a sense of out the MLG GoW community is going.

Looks like everything is set

Tonight at 8 PM CST we'll play The Shadow Corporation. We are away, meaning we host one game and they host the other two. We play as locust the entire time. Matches are played to 5 rounds. The three maps we'll be playing are
Canals
Mansion
Clocktower
We get to choose the map we host, and that match is played first. FoulBreed and I have suggested Canals, since we are weakest there and it is rather unpredictable. We have solid strategies for the other two maps.
I also suggest FB host our one hosted match since both him and I will have lagless connections for that game. If Sparda and Oculus were on the same connection I would recommend the same (that they host).
Our group is composed of 5 teams. We have to be in the top 2 (by the points) to advance to bracket play. I definitely think this is feasible. BTW, we do not play on Tuesday, 16 Jan. Our next match after tonight is Thursday, 18-Jan.
I will be over at FB's at about 6:30. I don't have my digital camera, so I'll need someone else to take screenshots and upload them to flickr, THX gallery, etc. Good luck tonight, guys.
Looking forward to next match
Looking forward to the next match. Hopefully we will keep our undefeated (TWL/MLG) streak alive. Are we the home team next time?
I hate to put the pressure
I hate to put the pressure on...but
Both Technical Knockout and Shadow Corporation have lost 6 straight matches of 12 total matches of group play. They essentially cannot win at this point.
Hammer and Anvil have a 6-0 start. It's reasonable to assume that they will finish #1 or #2 in the group and proceed to bracket play. That leaves one other spot to proceed to bracket play.
Unreal Gaming and THX both have 3-0 starts. We play UG tomorrow. It is not a certainty, but a probability that the results of our match against UG will determine if we move on to bracket play.
I'm glad we are playing at
I'm glad we are playing at home field tonight. Any idea if H&A's first matches were home or away?
UG beat TKO 3-0 with UG at
UG beat TKO 3-0 with UG at home. However, right now TKO is the whipping boy of our group (0-6) so a 3-0 win at home against a team that isn't faring well doesn't say much.
Conclusion: There's no way to predict it. Let's run the table and call it a night so I don't have to do the math anymore.
MLG Question and a Challenge

Hey
What's up Curtis,
We are always up for scrimmages. Let us know when and where, and I'm sure we can get a game going. We try to play against teams that are highly skilled because we feel it makes us better, so let us know. Our MLG experience is limited. Basically, anyone can pay their 14 bucks and create an MLG team for a tournament, and we did this. We've got about 8-9 people that play in a couple leagues, so as of now we're not hurting for players, but the Hushed Casket is more of a pool of gamers than an actual clan. See our about link at the top of the page for our history.
This group is very centered around this website. Most of the people who play with us either know each other, or have been on the website making posts and comments. Anyone can register, and we kept it that way so we can get to know new people.
