Wondering if anyone has purchased or seen/done any reviews of the Wii. From what I have seen/heard of it I think I might purchse one early in the year when the hype is gone and they are available. Feedback?

Re: Wii
If I see one in the store, I\'ll likely buy it. I think it\'ll be a fun gadget to have.

I\'m like rap, if I could a afford one, or if I was offered one, I would surely take it. Its not something I am going to go after, but I wouldn\'t mind having one. Looks like some fun games are going to be on it. I wouldn\'t want a PS3, on the other hand.
Re: Wii
I\'d like to have a Wii, but I don\'t want to pay for it. It looks like a lot of fun to play with, but I need to feel it in my hands before I could give you a definitive answer as to whether I want to save for it or not.
I wouldn\'t want a PS3 either.

Just keep a good hold on the remote if you get one.........

The site is down now. Is this site about the same idiot who broke his TV with the Wii remote. This guy?

I wonder why that nylon strap looks mysteriously like it was cut by scissors?
Edit: Looks like I jumped to conclusions. IGN also had the same problem with one of there testers.

Re: Wii
Maybe they could put a fan in the controller to control sweaty palms??? U guys remeber that controller that had the built in fan?? Personaly I thought it was quite lumberjackish, but this could be a practical application for said gayness?
Re: Wii
My boyfriend and I camped out and got a wii on launch day and it\'s been a lot of fun so far. Zelda Twilight Princess is an amazing game. I haven\'t had time to start my own file yet, but I\'ve watched my boyfriend play a lot while studying and it looks really cool. It\'s extremely similar to Ocarina of Time which was by far the best of all the other Zelda games in my opinion.
Wii sports is really cool and involves a lot of interaction. Games like bowling and tennis require a lot of swinging the controller around, but I\'ve never thrown it out of my hands and even if I did, the wrist strap would easily prevent any damage. The strap is comfortable and not restricting at all. It\'s a great party game and all of our friends have their own characters and enjoy playing. Surprisingly, even my non-gamer female room mates have really enjoyed wiisports, so if your looking for a way to get your girlfriends involved, wiisports is a great way to do it. And it doesn\'t hurt that making the cute characters is super fun :)
We bought Trama Center: Second Opinion a couple days ago and have been extremely pleased with it. The surgery is a lot of fun, plus the story line gives it an interesting slant. The operations are realistic and challenging and a fun alternative to more mainstream games. As a biology/chem double major I absolutely love the medical focus of the game, but my bf is an electrical engineer and enjoys it just as much, so it definitely has a broad appeal.
Re: Wii
The Trauma Center game does sound interesting. Thanks for letting us know your personal experience.
Re: Wii
I bought Trauma Center for the DS about a month ago... it\'s still in its original shrink-wrap. I\'ll probably try it out now.
Re: Wii
I was sold when I saw the ad for red steel
Re: Wii
Just talked to a guy at my WM. He said they\'ve only gotten 1 shipment of Wii\'s and PS3\'s since launch.
Re: Wii
I\'ve been playing my freinds Wii for a few days now and its pretty sweet. Twilight Princess is one of the best games I\'ve ever played. Wii sports was pretty good and Red Steel is better than most reviews make it out to be. The joystick handle whose name evades me, took alittle getting use to because its noticably lighter than the other controller but thats probably just me. I think its a pretty good system. PS-You don\'t have to do as moving as the commercials suggest.

You admitted what I didn\'t want to say...
Re: Wii
That\'s weird about WM shipments. Our PX has received three (launch, about 2.5 weeks after launch, and one about 4 days ago). AAFES is usually last to be fed.
Re: Wii
Christina and I are thinking about getting one. Christina mostly. We would buy and sell but I think it would be pretty cool to have and keep. The Zelda does look cool but I can\'t find a place to try one out at. I guess the stores are concerned about them breaking possibly. Anyone know of a place in Huntsville that has a working modle, not just a video playing on it?
Re: Wii
All our local EB Games/Gamestops have Wii demo units. You\'ll probably have to let them hold your driver\'s license while you you the wiimote, but it\'s well worth it. Try fishing in Zelda. It\'s a blast!

Actually, the Gamestop by Target requires your license AND your keys.
Re: Wii
I\'ve been playing Elebits and it\'s absolutely adorable and a lot of fun. Trama Center has also continued to hold my gaming attention pretty well. I\'ve been trying to find a system for my little brother for Christmas but have had a really hard time tracking one down. Putting in the extra effort to get one at launch turned out to be a pretty good idea.
Re: Wii
My interest in a Wii has grown from hearing others talk about it. I may have to consider this when my birthday comes around in Feb.

So you\'re finally coming out, huh.

It\'s OK, Slayer. Now that you\'re 19 and entering college you\'ll find many more people who are open to \"experimentation,\" and I don\'t mean test tubes...unless that\'s your thing. Anyway, we would never discriminate against anyone for sexual preference, so I hope you\'ll continue to feel welcome here.

That\'s good; that\'s really too much!
After taking the ACT all
After taking the ACT all morning, I met up with taggirl to grab some lunch and go to her boyfriend's place. I had my first chance to play the Wii there. After some battery/controller issues (which doesn't happen often, according to taggirl), we got to load up the Wii.
My first impression was how hefty the Wii controller is. It wasn't heavy by any means, it was just thicker and heavier than your standard television remote. It caught me by surprise because of its small form factor. The Nunchuck attachment was also completely different from what I expected; it was light, almost weightless. It's cool how Nintendo is able to fit the motion-sensing technology + buttons + analog stick into something so light it could fly away with a small breeze (not really).
It was a lot of fun to make a Mii that looks like, well, me. WarioWare was the only game we played, and the game does an excellent job of taking advantage of the Wiimote's motion-sensing features. Before each Microgame, there is a screen showing you what "stance" to hold the hold the controller (and the introduction before you try a new stance is hilarious). You have a couple seconds to get in position, and then you play the little microgame in five seconds. The activities range from holding the controller flat in your palm and balancing a broom to flapping your arms to avoid falling in water. Of course, that's just a couple examples out of many.
Is it worth $250? Yes. The games will only get better, and support from developers is continuing to climb.
Thanks for your input,
Thanks for your input, Mintz. Knowing a little bit about the types of games you like, this is another reference point for me when I look at the Wii.
There was a time I wanted to get the console. Now, I can't justify it. I'm sure I would enjoy it if I had it. However, I don't think I would play it enough.
Many people place the Wii in
Many people place the Wii in the "gimmick/fad/novelty" category, but the smooth controls definitely give the console staying-power.
I can't justify a purchase either; In addition to the great 360 games coming out this year, I still have that long-awaited car to buy and the looming expense of college.
I actually think the control
I actually think the control system + lack of HD will kill the Wii.
The control system is a gimmick. It forces the game developers to do more work, think more creatively, and in turn spend more money. I think you won't see too many games that take advantage of the motion sensing in the future. I think it will be hard to develop for...especially if the game is a port from another platform.
I also think people will eventually realize that the graphics aren't that great. They'll see their system as inferior.
That sad it's only, what, $200? And Nintendo probably has some of the most innovative exclusive titles out there.
The lack of HD will
The lack of HD will definitely hurt the Wii, but I disagree with the control system. It feels too intuitive and solid to label it as a gimmick right away. You have to mess around with it a little to understand exactly what I mean. However, I agree with you about the graphics.
Development costs are actually much cheaper, according to third-party developers like Ubisoft and THQ. Also, we know Nintendo is great about first-party support.
Cost and effort of Wii programmers

Just a small question rapture. I believe nintendo has well the capability to upgrade to HD and as far as making programmers/creators etc.. work overtime for outstanding effects/realism to us, the gamers, isn't that what we all really want?? I have to be honest I know u guys are huge FPS fans "take that lightly as u will" but to me they all just feel the same with the exception of GOW which is just kick ass all around and i dunno if u would put it as FPS or not..anywho and portal is quite unique in its system although lumberjackish as it may be it was worth an A for effort.
I guess what I really am getting at is that maybe, just maybe one day with the controls of the Wii (and from what I understand the ps3?) and the dedication/creativeness of our great programming, code crunching, super geek developers we can actually for once feel like we are "part" of the experience not just a cheeto eatin, Mt. Dew drinkin, butt stuck in the couch, button masher on the other end of the controller.
Of course if none of this makes sense to anyone and i'm completely retarded thats understandable too. What u guys think?
I think Cheetos are too
I think Cheetos are too messy to eat while playing video games.
Cheetos?
I'm a dorito man myself.
There ya go.
