Indoor Soccer in HSV
Could it really be happening???? An indoor soccer facility in Huntsville has been proposed. The next step is getting a general set of architectural drawings for an indoor facility to Mo Brooks, the District 5 County Commissioner (http://www.co.madison.al.us/about/dist5/) so the county commission can determine what it would cost to build an indoor facility.
Michael Pettey (Select Soccer, former Sparkman Coach, and HASL player) recently talked to Mr. Brooks. This is the information he received.
\"He (Mo Brooks) said the land is available (50 acres on Chaney Thompson Road) and the indoor facility is his first priority for the land. The money for part of the construction and eventual upkeep of the facility would have to come from Madison County Commission and the city of Huntsville. However, he doesn’t want to spend any of the money that could be used for construction on architectural plans or drawings. So, he is requesting that anybody with access to a set of architectural plans similar to those used for “Sportsblast (Hwy 280 south of B’ham) or the indoor facility in Brentwood-Nashville area please assist him by submitting these plans to him. Even a soccer enthusiast with architectural skills that would be willing to submit a similar plan for a top-notch facility would be helpful.\"
If you would like to give Mr. Brooks your input, he would like to hear from you. Call him at 539-6000.
