Official Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter thread

According to the official blog for Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter (that\'s GRAW to you soldier) a playable demo will be coming to the Xbox Live Marketplace (and that\'s XBLM). When asked, in a Q&A posted yesterday, if there would be a demo coming to the XBLM they responded, \"Yes there is, we are putting something special together as we speak which will be out soon.\" When is soon?

Re: Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter Demo "Coming Soon!

I\'m glad it\'s coming to XBL Mrkp.

I got very disappointed when I learned this game was a 3rd Person Shooter.

Re: Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter Demo "Coming Soon!

Its more of a 2nd person, It has the over the shoulder view. You can use first person probably, just like the other ghost recons. But if you play ghost recon alot like i used to you want the 3rd or 2nd(over the shoulder view) so you can see your surroundings. 1st doesnt work as well.

Re: Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter Demo "Coming Soon!

Besides, how else will you see the nice graphics on the character model? Either way, I\'m glad it\'s coming to XBLM so I can try it before I buy. If Full Auto hadn\'t been on XBLM, I might\'ve wasted 60 bucks...

Re: Official Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter thread

Forget the demo. The full version comes out on the 9th of March. Anyone going to purchase?

He preordered it with his 360 MONTHS ago. He has been biting at the bit to get his hands on it. That is the series he mostly plays so y\'all will definitely have someone to hit up on XBL.

Last thursday a Ubisoft rep. posted on the Teamxbox forums that the Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter demo would be up that night and that it was in Microsoft’s hands. Then another Ubisoft rep. commented on that post on the IGN forums stating that “he [the other rep guy] doesn’t know exact dates and neither do I. Best case it will be up the 7th, but it might come out after release.

Who\'s got the skinny on multiplayer in this game?

Do I have to put quotes in that for you?? Allow me to elaborate:

Torque, the man who wishes to meet me and become :quote: nice buddies :quote: at the next LAN he\'s invited to.

In other words, he wants to kill me!

OH, I see he doesn\'t really want to meet you, right? HAHA! You were just being funny! Oh mintz... nice buddies... lol. Rich!

Re: Official Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter thread

\"Advanced Warfighter is the best-looking game to date on the Xbox 360, and it offers exceptional tactical shooting action to back up those great visuals.\"

\"The Good: Campaign is exciting and challenging, even at normal difficulty; the door-gunner missions are awesome; offers a definite tactical feel with its difficulty; amazing graphics and presentation; really looks and feels like you\'re in a city....
The Bad: ...except there are no civilians; teammate artificial intelligence leaves something to be desired; bright, high-contrast lighting can sometimes make it difficult to see.\"

\"Multiplayer Gameplay Modes:

Developed separately by Red Storm, the multiplayer modes of GRAW have really taken shape to offer up what we think is easily the best the Xbox 360 has to offer at this point. Red Storm has enabled up to 16 player support, including an amazing 16 player co-op mode that allows players to carry out a series of objective based missions exclusive to the multiplayer mode of GRAW. The multiplayer modes not only support Xbox Live online play by default, but also System Link and split-screen play for those without the means of a broadband connection. All of the standard multiplayer modes including Capture the Flag and Deathmatch are a part of GRAW’s multiplayer arena, and even though each have a number of interesting variations, the real draw to Advanced Warfighter’s multiplayer action is the awesome co-op support.\"

Re: Official Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter thread

HOLY CRAP!

I stopped in at Wal-mart to get some sweet tea. GRAW ended up in my buggy at the check out.

I just loaded it up on the 360. Erin said:

\"I mean, those graphics look awesome!\"

And they do. 5 x CoD2. More later.

Torque couldn\'t wait for Wal-Mart to ship his copy of GR:AW. Due to his lack of patience he went and purchased a copy from EB. If his other copy comes in by Saturday, would anyone like to purchase it from him to save him the return process?

Re: Official Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter thread

YES

Re: Official Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter thread

If anyone wants to play GRAW, my GT is TORQUE88.

Rapture, I tried to send you a FR (Rayne thought it might be a good idea) but your friends list was full.

Oh, and Mintz, if you want my other copy of this game, I can hand deliver it to you sometime Saturday....provided it comes in by then. :knuppel:

Re: Official Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter thread

I like this game so far... graphics are awesome! I\'m so used to Halo and AA, when I play GR:AW I tend to want to run around killing everybody... but then my team dies.

Re: Official Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter thread

I should be online tonight playing. I\'m up for some co-opage.

Re: Official Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter thread

I dunno, I think CoD2 has better grahics in SOME ways, but GR:AW has it hands down in most.

Mintz's picture

Re: Official Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter thread

Describe these \"some ways.\"

Slayer's picture

Re: Official Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter thread

The ground and walls on GRAW took patched or tiled. But I never saw that in CoD2, although it may have been there. There are other things too I think. Maybe its just the gameplay I am thinking of.

Mintz's picture

Re: Official Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter thread

GR:AW SCREWED ME OVER!!!!

I started the mission after \"Mayday! Mayday!\" and I quit out because I had to sleep last night. So I selected \"quit\" from the start menu, then turned off the box. Then I start up today, and the console freezes when I try to resume my game! I try again, and it does it again! And again! So I thought I\'d go to the missions menu and play \"Mayday! Mayday!\" over again and then proceed with the campaign normally. After I beat the level again, however, it just showed me a report card, and then took me back to the title screen! (I got an A+ btw!)

I am soooo pissed off! I don\'t want to start all over again!!!

Slayer's picture

Re: Official Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter thread

Yeah, got an A+ also... I haven\'t figured out how you get anything else yet, but I did get a B+ later on.

Re: Official Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter thread

You early adopters are funny.

Mintz's picture

Re: Official Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter thread

You have the same problem, Slayer?

Slayer's picture

Re: Official Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter thread

Evidently.

Mintz's picture

Re: Official Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter thread

On the same mission and everything? It started where I was in a forest, about to infiltrate this base. I take out some guys guarding an outer wall, then I peek around the corner, and there\'s a bunch of dudes and some vehicles patrolling. I saved there and quit, and that\'s when the problems started.

I\'m going to start all over again.

Slayer's picture

Re: Official Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter thread

Oh no, I\'m not having that problem, I misunderstood what you were saying.

Mintz's picture

Re: Official Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter thread

Then what problem are you having?

I\'m about halfway to the point where I was when the game crashed on me, now. Hopefully tomorrow or Friday I\'ll be able to get to that level and pass it.

Slayer's picture

Re: Official Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter thread

I\'m not having a problem, I thought you were joking about the A+ thing.

Re: Official Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter thread

I played co-op campaign with Torque, Slayer, and FB (Shyzza/Prey) yesterday. It was a lot of fun. We got through the 4 maps in about 2 hours.

Basically, the mission on each map is kill all the enemies. Sometimes, you\'ll have added objectives like destroy a SAM or vehicle.

The bad part about the design of the co-op campaign is, once you die, you are out until the last man dies. So, if you die 5 minutes in (like I did many times) you\'ll have to wait until the mission is complete, all your men are killed, or the admin aborts the mission (like I did many times). After you die, you can swap over to your teammate\'s view. That was cool - seeing Slayer, FB, and Torque owning to win a map. I would like to see what happens when 16 players are playing in the same campaign. There must be enemies everywhere.

Also, I got 4 achievements for my team beating the 4 maps - whether I was alive or not at the end of the mission. However, I missed out on an 8-point achievement. I must be alive at the end of each mission to get that one.

A cool feature is that we can play the MP gametypes against the AI. It would be like playing Oddball, King of the Kill, TS, etc. against AI in HALO. I\'d like to try this feature out soon.

Re: Official Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter thread

Dont foget Rapture, that it was you who got us through the treasury map. :)

Re: Official Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter thread

That was a lot of fun. I would also like to see a 16 person co-op. Lag would probably be bad though as GR has never handled that many players well (in past games). 14 seems to work better.

Something y\'all might want to try is CTF, especially on the maps \"Rocky Cove\" & \"Fishing Village\". I played in a 5v5 CTF last weekend....very intense.

So, CTF vs the AI?

Re: Official Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter thread

Sounds like fun. I tried to get some coop going last night, but nobody was joining me :( Eventually one guy joined me (cupHoric was his GT, I think), but he left as soon as he died in the first five minutes. So I just stopped :(

Also, I got to, and passed, the part where my 360 crashed. This game is goooood....

Re: Official Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter thread

It was straight up 5 versus 5....no AI. I don\'t even know if that is possible since I never host matches. Might be something to look into though.
