"The Office" Thread

Submitted by rapture on Tue, 01/31/2006 - 4:16pm.

I am loving The Office on NBC. It's a really funny show - especially if you work in an office environment.

In case you are already in the loop, you might like to check out Dwight Schrute's Schrute-Spac: http://blogs.nbc.com/office

One of his posts:

PS. Thoughts about winter.

Winter is the coldest season. For a reason. The sun
moves south, to warm up the Africans and the
Australians and leaves us in the northern climes to
fend for ourselves in the sleet and the frost.

Animals bundle up in their fur and in their caves.
They hybernate and/or store up nuts to feed to their
chicks and young.

When there is a chill in the air, there are colder
weather patterns coming down from Canada.

In Canada it is always winter. Sometimes the sun
never rises in Canada. Harp seals abound until they
are brutally slaughtered by Canadians. They worship
maple syrup, hockey and Alanis Morisette. I hate
Canadians.

Winter.

Re: "The Office" Thread

This show really does rock. I think its probably the best comedy on network TV right now. I never catch it when it is on though... but I\'ve got another source. I\'ll probably buy the seasons on dvd as they become available.

The episode on improving race relations is hiliarious.

\"Alright, let\'s all go around and name a race that turns you on!\"

Re: "The Office" Thread

Oh my gosh... I love the secret alliance episode. Dwight in a box = owned.

And this probably doesn\'t matter to you guys as much as it does to me, but I\'m still waiting for Jim and Pam to hookup.

Re: "The Office" Thread

Dwight Schrute is the man.

Last night...as he was going down the stairs to the warehouse...when he did the triple-take to the camera with those smurks on his face...and then he belted out the line about LOST...

We about fell out onto the floor. We kept rewinding to watch that part over and over.

Last 2 eps have been really good.

We\'re pulling for Jim and Pam also, taggirl.

Re: "The Office" Thread

From Schrute Space:

WHat are men?

WHy are men, men? WHy are men from
mars? What makes us tick? What makes men so
masculine? Why are we all so rough and rugged and
irresistable to women?

There are so many questions about men in the preceding
paragraph.

And here at Schrute-Space, I aim to answer them.

First of all, men have XY hormones. I don\'t know what
that means, but it\'s important in the field of
science.

Men have male genitalia which crop up when we\'re
little foetus\'s. Then, they bloom into what we have
now in adulthood.

But all this is beside the fact that men are men are
men.

We like meat. We like beer and wine and trucks. Us
men like fights (not me, however. Karate teaches me
to seek peace through force and to yield like the
willow tree but with deep roots that cannot be
severed). WE like paintball and laser tag and
Creedence and Medieval reinactments and German
Culture.

But most importantly, men like women.

We certainly like their bodies and their outfits, but
we also like their soft lips and skin and taste in
furniture.

Women make us who we are, not only with their wombs,
but with their femininity.

Take pornography. The women are usually at a really
nice condo or swimming pool. They\'re just hanging out
but then they start getting it on with themselves.
(women can do that without fear of reprisal. Men
can\'t. Another difference. Only cowboys can get it
on and get acclaim and accolades for it.)

THEN a man comes over. Usually a neighbor, delivery
boy or pool service technician. Then, the magic
happens. It\'s on. Sometimes a triad. Sometimes a
shower or bath with bubbles.

Fact: Men are better at taking charge in the bedroom.

Fact: Men are better at maps and directions and
driving.

Fact: Men are better at jousting and dueling.

Fact: Men are better at facts.

Question: What are women better at?

(Note: Please don\'t be offended, feminists. I respect
you AND am attracted to you.)

I can\'t quit you.

Dwight Schrute. Man.

IMO, The Office is the

IMO, The Office is the funniest show on TV. Surely, it's the funniest live-action comedy.

My dad was given Season 1 on

My dad was given Season 1 on DVD, he had never heard of the office. I was really excited about it though. I've watched it a couple of times now.

Diversity Day is definitely my favorite episode.

The Office

I love the office. It's one of those shows that I refuse to watch on TV. I wait and buy the DVD's so I can watch whenever I want as many times as I want, along with the cut scenes that don't make it to TV.

I've got season 1 and 2. I can't wait for the current season to end to they'll release it to DVD and I can watch it. (I know...long ways to go still).

I didn't like the first season that much. The humor was dry, and I spent the whole time cringing. The show kind of took off for me in the second season.

rapture's picture

When you guys talk about

When you guys talk about Season 1, are you referring to the British version or the American version.

I actually think S1 (the US version) is a little better than Season 2. But, I made up my mind after spending all day watching S1 over again. Both seasons are very good.

This season is great. You're going to like it a lot, Brick. There have been 3 episode sthat I have watched 5 times. S3 might be the best season so far.

Oh. The episode in which Michael dies at the Christmas party is pretty sad, though.

British version?

British version?

The Office originally

The Office originally started in the UK with a different cast and directors. It got popular and some play in the US before NBC took over.

Office

I haven't seen any of the British versions.

Season 1 is funnier after having a second go at it, because you've developed a feel for the characters and their interactions. You gradually learn to enjoy the awkwardness. First time around it's pretty rough.

Damnit.

We got the first

We got the first two seasons on DVD because I read a good review in a magazine about it. It was OK... it has British humor. Take that for what it's worth.

So far I've watched about 2.5 seasons of The Office.

This show is the funniest thing ever. I love that episode where he takes a couple Asian chicks back to his office party and has to mark, with a marker, the one he's "dating"! XD

Season 3 DVD

I am so excited about season three coming out this Tuesday! I have just finished re-watching seasons 1 and 2, but I have only seen a couple of season 3 episodes. I can't wait to get my hands on that! Andy really cracks me up, and I can't wait to see how and when he comes on the scene.

I have read some reviews and they say it is an excellent DVD!

I was going to try and hold off for a bit before buying the Season 3 set, but I made the mistake of walking into Best Buy. They had a special edition that includes not only your own Dundie Award, but also a miniature Dwight Schrute bobblehead.

Needless to say, I've got new desk decorations and stuff to watch tonight.
