I'm actually glad for that. Just think--any average Joe can make an unranked player match, and have all his friends join the game and kill them without resistance. Unlike in ranked matches, where you can't invite your friends and other players on Xbox Live want to get those achievements as well...

The negative side of this is that many players end up not caring for teamwork and go off on their own trying to get achievements. "Just seven more torque bow kills, no one touches it but me!"
